2020.11.26 04:47 BabyCakesMcKenzie Love Island: The Game - Season 2 - Getting with all the boys

First of all, I love this season soooo much. I used to think I would never like it because I was so hooked on Season 1 (I was Jake stan but also got the hots for Levi lol). But season 2 is so good. The plot was much better and has more possibilities, although I must say, I'm a Bobby stan all the way! In my first run, I was so loyal to Bobby, we were together from Day 1 till the end; no nothing with anyone, even Noah. Love Island's Georgia got nothing on me and my loyal arse.
So yeah I thought I'd do it again but try to flirt with others. I've done several mixes, mostly still ending up with Bobby lol (what can I say, I love the guy). But this time, I thought, sod it. Let's have some fun!
Now, I'm sure this has been done by other people but I'd like to share how I've tried to get some action with basically every guy in season 2 and also end up with Noah. I'll try to make it as brief as I can but detailed enough for you guys to understand. So here we go...
Day 1: Pick NOAH but end up with BOBBY - So obviously this is an investment for my Noah ending but also because it makes more sense to be forced couple up with Bobby since I'm not planning to get romantic with him. Sad but necessary. I still got to proper kiss him on Day 2 and there are intimate Bobby scenes afterwards and you can still snog him during the Kiss and Tell game so no worries!
Day 3: Get ROCCO to pick you - This is a bit tricky but you have to work hard to get Rocco to pick you. You can do things right from the start like choosing to be a student, being a romantic, etc. But I think what's important is only flirting with him during the first coupling (like ignore the other guys but choose What's cookin', good lookin? for Rocco), and to, again, not have a romantic relationship with Bobby. Also, it's nice to be part of the whole Rocco-Marisol scandal and you can guilt-free flirt with others, especially Lucas and Henrik.
\*Day 7: Save *HENRIK** from the dumping - I want to pair up with him after Casa Amor so I need to keep him. Tell the girls you want to Lucas to stay but vote for Henrik to be most likely to leave with a gf. Lucas and Rocco will then be dumped later on.
Day 9: Couple up with GARY - I feel bad for my girl, Lottie, but I'd rather get Gary early on and let her have her chance later so she can have a happy ending. Gary is basically fair game at this rate and he'll eventually get head over heels for Chelsea anyway.
Day 10: Join Operation Nope and kiss NOAH - which would lead to.... Day 13: NOAH couples up with you - get romantic with him!
Day 11: Give JAKUB a goodbye snog - In all honesty, Jakub is a right twat. He doesn't deserve it but for my social experiment, I have to do it.
CASA AMOR - Okay, not the biggest fan of the Casa Amor boys but again, for science!
**Don't take any of them with you to the Villa.
Day 18: Save and partner up with HENRIK - Sorry, Priya, and bye. :( Anyway, the next day, Chelsea will ask you who you really want to be coupled up with. Choose IBRAHIM. Now this is funny because, Shannon is literally right there and be like yeah, no she's not lying and totally cool with you eyeing her man lol But the whole thing will make Ibrahim want you. (Note that I have already kissed Rahim back when he was upset about whatever and he was practising his golf swing. Day 7, I think.)
Day 22: IBRAHIM couples up with you - Be supportive of him during the whole Shannon-Jo row. This is also like super bitchy because they're going to fight over Rahim and you're just there, knowing he's got the hots for you lol but I must say, having Ibrahim at this point is really cringey. He gets so possessive and into you. Basically, get intimate with him but try to shut him down or else... Best way to break up with him is to do badly in the Happily Ever After game. This way, he won't end up telling you that he loves you. Avoid the cringe.
Day 25: Choose LUCAS for the final recoupling - Just don't cheat on Rahim with Lucas but pick him for the finals. Now, this is the reason I chose Henrik to stay before. I want Lucas to come back with Hannah so I could pair up with him. Why Lucas? He is kind of a prick tbh and he's technically absolutely minted. We'll win the competition but I will take 50 grand for myself and not feel so bad because Lucas is loaded anyway lol
After Party
The night before the finals, go up the roof terrace and do bits with NOAH. The poor guy has gone through so much already. Sorry, not sorry, Hope. In the after party, Noah will dump her for you and you live bitchily happy ever after! (Remember, you choose money for this to happen! You need money because Noah's a librarian but wants children. Gotta be prepared!)
So that's it! That's my character being a hoe lol I've won several time with Bobby so might as well hoe away for fun. Enjoy!

P.S.
Is Season 3 any good? I'm struggling to connect with any of the characters and they look like children to me. But maybe the plot is good? Is it? Like Season 2 standard... Let me know..

2020.06.14 00:26 whenyour_mdmpl Bungie should add more camo esque shaders

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure the only good lookin camo shaders are like arctic dreamscape and oiled gun metal. The oiled gunmetal camo looks nice but only applies to cloth. Especially this seasons amor, specifically titan, the metal looks nice in arctic dreamscape but It just would be nice to have different color options

2020.03.07 18:36 bbukrpdr 🧶🧟 Reddit Dragula - S5E5: "Se L'amore"

That horrific noise. The kettle wouldn't stop. Steaming and screaming, screaming and steaming. The gas flicker of the oven and the persistent hum of the low-efficient light. An oblivion of echoes and a supremity of sounds to a volume that an orchestra would dream of producing; sounds which signified the monotonous life of a lone housewife. Only flicks of a moth-eaten hand towel by this hand scorched by chemicals of soap and hot water could commence an orchestra to make such noise.
Kitchen tiles that were once white now impure with an olive-toned overcast, not helped much by the sickly yellow light that induced nausea. Checkerboard flooring which alternate black and white slate and a red-pleather booth both stylistic of 50s interior fashion. This room had not changed, not once. It was to anyone's question whether the sepia was due to lighting or merely of the time.
She stood, staring. A tall woman, fragile and skinny. Bones bedded to the flesh with no comfort of fat nor muscle. Skin exposed from the fraying cotton of her pastel lemon apron, her blouse ruched in frills soaked with tears and stock of salt. A prosperity of red-woven thread comes into sight, weaves and cross stitching constructing a crochet replacement in place of her absent right arm. The loose strands of flesh left hanging from the homemade amputation strung back into the mush of vein and raw tissue by cotton thread from the eye of a needle.
Blue thread embroidered her face. The left side was a beautiful woman, fresh of age and young of innocence, silver-blue eyes clouded by frost soon to melt into tears. The right side seen to a black button, pressed into indigo crochet and sewn into flesh tightly with the pull of cotton. Only her hair remained untouched, brushed behind her one ear and left flowing in locks.
She steps away from the window, towards the backdoor and out into the street, a stumble to her walk and a wobble you’d see in an older individual. Her posture hellbent by the crackle of her spine and heavy crocheted arm which was taken in every direction by any slight gust of wind. Falling to her knees, she stares. Her face succumbed to the reflection of blue lights and flares of the Venice sun. Azure, clear water.
One day, she walked hand in hand with her man. Strolling down the canal as if to be lovers that, unlike Romeo and Juliet, were not death-marked, instead two humans in their prime and repelling any negativity with the magnetic poles and fields of their love. Aspirations of happiness, diminished to dust. Dust is all that her husband may return home as from the war. That was a sight, a future, that she did not want to cope with. She no longer witnessed the reflection of a grin, or a reflection where two lips met in a boat.
She pulls herself forward, off the edge of the canal. A slight splash is seen, one last breath heard. A canvas of loose thread, unwoven crochet and patchwork unravels across the waters surface. A beautiful rainbow of distraught and depression, of love and loss. A sunset that looked as if to be water infused by droplets of pastel inks, blue, yellow, pink, albeit only the flesh of a doll - thread, falling from her arm and exposing the emptiness of her face.
A mirage of water washes over her as the passage of time continues. The abandoned doll took to shore of a distant beach, washed up as a castaway corpse. Shunned to the sand of a land otherwise known only to fleets of army and death of war. A quiet tread can be heard, granules of rock sinking beneath a heavy foot that approached. A shadow forms over the housewife, the camera turning to face it.
A soldier. Her soldier. Skin olive like the kitchen tiles and flesh aged with a tone of sepia as if he had been decaying for years. Teeth rotten and breaking through the skin and muscle of cheeks. Part of his face was a zombie, the other part was of a beautiful woman, his woman. That part of the face belonged to the housewife, which she had removed and sewn onto him as replacement to the one he was missing. The skill of needle and thread that her mother taught her as a child now used for sacrifice of her own bodily parts, including her right arm, which was sewn in place of her husbands; the original blown off by enemy attack.
He falls to his knees, groaning. He crawls forward, leaning down to her face. Leaving a kiss of death - biting into her only remaining flesh and shredding the iris of her eye, swallowing each mouthful. They were both now two as one, no amputation or replacement of limbs needed. The glaze of water met with viscous, crimson icing.
“When somebody loved me… everything was beautifullll...”
A quaint voice, not from the current scene. The singing formed a sound-bridge to the returning of The Alfonsi manor, lit up in the ghastly spotlights of stars at night. Much like the housewife, this chirp of distraught was alone. No others to be heard in the manor, nothing to be heard outside of it. No beating hearts, no bustle of a bush. Complete tranquility.
The camera followed the trace of the echo, towards the hobbit door, up the winding stone stairs. Someone was in the attic. Although the song they sang was from Toy Story, it was for sure not Sarah McLachlan. In the paste of moonlight, through the stained glass window, was Aurora. She lay on the edge of the mattress, paralysed, spread like a ragdoll. Disjointed from her body was her right arm, rolling across the floor, stopping at the feet of the camera.
Sounds of tearing were heard. Flesh was being torn, pulled, stitched back together. Whimpers accompanied such noises, a dark silhouette performing surgery, or in this case, artwork on Aurora. Raising an axe to her thigh and striking down, blood splattering on the camera.
Once the facade of red had fully washed off, Aurora no longer lay there. A doll did. Her body is no longer human but instead threadbare and drained of guts in place of strings and buttons for eyes. If you pulled the string from her back, a last goodbye would be heard.
Se L’amore…
“We’ve chosen… Aurora. I’m sorry.”
THE ALFONSI MANOR - MAIN STAGE WEEK 4
The outdoor mainstage had returned. The extermination scene of Aurora was now made sense of, subsequent to Vienna’s and Scarlet’s choice between her and Amelia. Lights need not flash, as the flame of candle enlarged in the slight breeze and thus increased the amber hue intensity. Aurora nods, smiling at the two winners over the shoulder of Amelia which she hugged.
“Aurora, you’ve been quite the fighter. Each week you’ve submitted work that you’ve loved to create and continued to do so regardless of end placement. You are one part to the epitome of what this competition is for and about, and so for that, I thank you.”
Fantasia commemorates the queen and her excellence.
[AURORA]: This competition has been great, I’ve met some great people and had a fun time. I’m not shocked, I did say after they made their choice that it was my time anyway, due to countless reasons.
“Now, you may leave the stage.”
“Thank you.”
Aurora smiles at the judges and gestures one last farewell wave to the other competitors, stepping to the back of the stage and evading from sight. The exterminated queen is to be missed, but the show must go on. Five silhouettes stood in the ghastly light, although only one would come to remain.
“Welldone all of you for making it this far. This season may not be particularly persistent with exterminations, but we are here to have fun, to create, to be hellish monsters. Lest we forget how people leave, and keep competing for the crown. Endgame is soon darlings, don’t fall behind.”
The remaining five nod, the distant glimmer of sea flaring the camera momentarily, commencing end to the scene. Let the journey continue.
A fine, citrus scent was about the manor, carried by each billow of summer air. Martina had her fingers embedded into the raw skin of an orange, pulverising it with the pressure of her hand onto a juicer. With each twist a pool of juice exuded from the slight gaps between her fingers, some spraying loose and staining the counter tops. With each spray was a splatter, slashing and slapping against the surface.
The weirdly erotic close-ups of the juice splattering would stop, the camera being withdrawn from said focus; zooming out and slowly revealing the lower body of Satina. She stares blankly at a stream of yellow stain on the bedroom wall, frowning and scratching her hair.
“Scarlet, clean your damn piss off the wall.” She pokes her head through the doorway, shouting into the hall. “Just because you’re marking your territory with challenge wins doesn’t mean you have to mark the manor also.”
THE ALFONSI MANOR WEEK 5
“Luckily for us our stay here is temporary. If this is her territory then let it be as soon as we leave she’ll be staying whilst the rest of us continue with the competition.”
Vienna can be seen preparing herself for the new day in a mirror on the adjacent wall, observing Scarlet’s frown at the pair as she enters the room.
[VIENNA SAUSAGE]: I’m so happy to have won my first challenge, but that damn bitch Scarlet keeps ranking on the tops. Someone has to send her home, I’ll poison her same old red liquid lipsticks if I have to.
“That’s not me. It’s Diana’s, you can tell from the stain.”
“You’re gross. She’s not even here.”
It was the dogs.
Leviathan reaches over her mattress and grabs a pack of baby wipes, tossing them over to Scarlet who had just been tracing the stain with her index finger. You could tell that she was probably gathering inspiration somehow for her next floor show, that or she’d just done it to cultivate more revolting reactions from the others.
“You know guys-” Scarlet scuffles down onto her knees to wipe the wall “- even though I want to continue my Smac record, you know what would be more iconic? Going home at the finale or placing bottom on the last challenge. Now that, that’s the Scarlet record.”
“She’s already coining brand phrases in case she loses so she can be remembered. It doesn’t work like that, remember I’m from S4. Look at the amount of iconic queens who competed then and now are barely mentioned.”
Satina reminds those of her OG season; land of the lost, the forgotten. Those are the names she’d conjure for it in her head as she rummaged hesitantly through her suitcase, attempting to organise the splurge of glamour in it.
“At least you’re going to be remembered Satina.” Leviathan comforts her. “For your one win.”
“One win is better than 0.”
The background cicadas rattle as if to be entertained by the back and forth shade, continuing in the background as a confessional screen appeared.
[SATINA]: I’m happy with how I’m doing this season and honestly it’s great to be with such creative queens. Some may see it as a detriment but I see it as a blessing, it's fun to compete against them and it’ll be all the more fun to beat them in the end.
White-linen curtains continue to contort in the gentle breeze of an Italian summer day, blowing through the house and slipping through each crack of the floorboards like the whispers did from each contestant that progressively moved around the house in wait of the challenge announcement.
In the quietest hour, the background noise around the manor grew louder. The thud of Vienna’s heavy step down the stairs, followed by the gentle creek and step of a careful Leviathan. The gardners clippers cutting through a stem of twine and branch of apricot, each fruit bouncing off the fresh grass. The way the sounds somehow came together sounded like the instrumental to Your Love-
“I think I’m gonna relapse.” Satina holds onto the bannister, a confused Scarlet holding her up from the stumble. “Does anyone else hear Nicki Minaj or is it just me?”
- and the squeal-scream of Fantasia directing the challenge sequence on the beach-
“Eat her face like you’d ravage the yeast out of her vagina. Pretend that you’re Cath devouring a foot. DO IT!
- making it sound even more canny. Satina clearly bothered by the flashbacks to her first boyfriend, of whom she stated would insist on blasting Nicki Minaj over their intimate moments in the house. That’s one of her storylines from season four.
Speaking of Fantasia’s shouts, they had grown louder and louder. Time had passed and the ghouls, who had come down to meet her on the blazing sand, stood silent as she steamed in the summer heat. She’d resort to pushing the core out of Martina’s peach and windmilling her tongue on the inside, ripping the fibre of skin with her teeth and shredding it before burying it in sand.
“That’s how you’re meant to eat her face.” Fantasia sighs, wiping the citrus juice from her mouth and tossing any excess residue over her shoulder. “Redo the scene. Do it as many times as you need to.”
The host turns to face the others, beckoned forward by the blast of wind from the sea and stumbling before catching her balance. Her hand grabs onto Scarlet’s who was met by the peach slobber, their hands stretching apart by goop awkwardly as Fantasia removed her grip.
In between the pull and tether of slime, the distant zombie actor could be seen, grimacing and cringing at the sight before placing their mouth back down to the housewives face.
“Anyway, welcome ghouls to the fifth week in the competition.”
They attempt to cheer over the loud waves, Scarlet licking her hand and adding to more of the slobber, savouring each strand of juice. She would catch a few stares from the others before stopping, Fantasia coughing and proceeding with the talk.
“Coronavirus-”
Scarlet steps back, bumping into the others. Vienna whispers back to her-
“I just got a whiff of dick breath, someones been experimenting with the Italian menu. Love is in the air. Or her stomach.”
The pair chuckle, the others paying no mind as they listen to the forthcoming announcement.
“As you may have noticed, Amelia is not standing besides you today. With recent personal life events, she has left the competition. She was offered extensions, however left without full disclosure. Given the circumstances, we understand, and hope she has a safe journey home.”
The contestants nod, unsure of how to react. Most were surprised as Amelia’s big presence had faded over the course of the season - up until this point at least - and so had not realised she’d been missing from the heavenly labyrinth of the Alfonsi manor. Others seemed to be stoked, happy that they’d not be eliminated this week.
“As Vienna had just so stated, dick breath love is in the air.” Vienna goes red like a child caught red-handed in a classroom. “For this week's challenge, you will be creating a other-wordly, humanely impossible romance. A love like no other. This will be two floorshows, one for each counter-part in the relationship, neither of which can appear at the same time as you’ll obviously be playing as both parts.”
[SCARLET VENOM]: Did she say a romance which is impossible? Pink wig thick ass give them whiplash. I’m ready for my concept.
“He might sell coke, he always in the air but he never fly coach.” Scarlet caresses the double chin of Satina. “That’s the kind of dude I was looking for-”
Satina’s face slowly turns green, barf accumulating in her neck, whether it was from the sight of Scarlet attempting to twerk, aka white girl shimmy on her, or from the recollection of Nicki again.
“And yes you get slapped if you lookin’ hoe.”
The revolted queen raises her hand and slaps the wind-up merchant, Satina herself returning the subsequent lyric. Scarlet turns back to face her and mimes ‘harder next time’ before adjusting herself and looking back to the host. Satina, in the background, swallows whatever had come up from her stomach and too listens back into the challenge announcement.
“No simple concepts, nothing which is humane or easily explicable. You have the Alfonsi Manor, surrounding environments such as this beach and Venice to use for this challenge. Understood?”
“Yes ma’am.”
Leviathan responds to her for them.
“No Diana and sperm cell, Smacahoe and laxatives, Bella and dipping, Red X and inflatable horse, Erathelle and tantrum, Robyn Boyfriends and sperm cell on her face, nothing of the sort. Anything else, then good luck!”
Fantasia claps her hands as she walks back over to the filming crew, leaving the others in awe - and slight confusion - of what she had just said. The claps of the host commenced a scene transition, a montage of collective shots from the local environment and familiar surroundings, the montage music being Scarlet’s attempt at rapping albeit remixed to Canon in D.
They soon headed back to the manor, struggling to move their makeup bags to the outside table which would be a much more suitable location to prepare, a cool sunset breeze welcomed and preferred over the boiler room that is the replacement boudoir. Each contestant pulled their seat out to in synchrony with the crescendo of violins, the unzip of their bags like the ‘singing’ burca noises of Scarlet.
“You know-” Leviathan buries her head into her box of eyeshadow palettes “- I wonder how Fantasia always comes up with these challenge ideas. Like where does she get inspiration from?”
The violins sound-bridge over to a new scene, a thought-bubble transition - nostalgic of cheap-production Nickelodeon shows - introduces us to a new setting. A dingy hotel that had acclaimed vintage, historic Rome style - mattress stained as if to be the art of Michelangelo but not too far from looking like an artistic representation of scat. A chipped head-board and windows that were to be enclosed by those wooden fold-aways which you’d likely see in a cheaper stage rendition of Mamma Mia.
A door can be heard opening, followed by the alternating steps of two people. A pair of LV heels wander past the lens which scoped the void under-the-bed, followed by a man's jeans - and pants - that puddled around the camera. Yum, smell that whilst you can, take it in. The bed creaked as the man landed on it, the camera panning up to now a still pair of skinny, long, caramel legs.
“So…” Two maroon nails come into view, caressing the end-board frame of the bed as the camera continues to pan up, intervened by brunette locks of hair curled by the salt of sea. “Sei bellissima e voglio l'italiano dentro di me.”
The woman was seen wearing a jacket that was blatantly his; hanging massively oversized in folds of blue-denim over her petite frame, although stained dark over the wear of time, frayed slightly at the edges but saturated with musk. Cigarette smoke from the streets of Rome, sweat from under the blazing sun and loose coins that had become malleable from said heat in the pockets.
Over her shoulder, the baffled frown of the man could be seen. In fact, he could be seen. A muscular, but not too muscular, man, resting his head against the head-board. His Italian tone dark hair whisked into a slight brunette curl and thick eyebrows to match. A stubble masqueraded whatever jawline he had with the continuity of hair prevalent, seen on his chest, arms, and thighs. His Apollo's belt looked as if it were the eroded edge of a cliff, carved out by pirates who seeked the treasure in between.
“Oh right, you don’t understand. Mangiamo?”
’We eat’, she’d say, the man chuckling. The woman would walk over to the bed with her petite-frame yet curvature from ass, wearing moderately short shorts to match and a emerald green bra. She’d walk over to his side of the bed and awkwardly hover over him before stradilling around his waist - not literally, not sexually either.
“I want you to pop my pussy like a mushroom on Mario.”
The continued music from the prior manor scene of Canon in D vinyl-scratched at the disruption of hot, sexual intimacy at the clash of her lesser-so talk. It would continue as her petite hands caress either side of his face as she stares into the honey-filled voids of his amber eyes, the man again, trying not to laugh at her ridiculous attempt of being sexual with riddance of Italian tongue.
From the awkward attempt of being intimate and the familiar sharp facial structure seen in a side-shot, it was recognisable that this woman was indeed Fantasia. There would be no further doubt that this was their queen as she had soon danced in the silk of a blanket from the bed, walking over to the sunset-lit window. Her body glistened like a spectacle, like a finest commodity of glass.
The Nicki Minaj lyrics would return to the consistent instrumental, the lyrics ‘get on the floor, floor’ playing dramatically with violin sequence as the queen gestured the man over and pointed to the floorboards sitting before the window scape.
The camera would switch to the outside, the two lovers now merely silhouettes. The god-like man subdue to a knelt stance, she standing before him. A crack of a whip could be heard, followed by the black tracing of an actual whip through the curtains.
“She’s got to get the money to keep the show going somehow, especially for this place.”
The manor scene returns, brought back by the sound of Satina’s response, answering Leviathan’s curiosity, putting an end to whatever speculation she’d commenced in her head.
“I don’t know about you guys but I’m looking forward to this challenge.”
Vienna looks over to the others.
“I’m enjoying it but thinking of a great concept is going to be hard.”
“Gotta keep that track record up girl-” Satina pats her on the back “- but alas, we’re the top four. We did that.”
"Damn, man, that bitch is a stan."
Leviathan bops out in the corner, watching Satina's smile turn sour.
"You know when you see some past episodes and you're like, damn, the host really must've ran out of jokes because they kept repeating them. That's this episode, only that it's Fantasia you guys with Nicki lyrics." Satina jokingly responds. "Cath's toenail? Portia being a whale? The hosts having STDs? All of those - cursed."
"The past seasons really had jokes didn't they?"
Vienna squints, attempting to recollect on the amount of jokes we've had this season to contrast.
"I mean we've had Diana get hit by a car when she left to go for a Mcdonalds interview. We've also got you, so there's another."
Scarlet counts the list of 'jokes' on her fingers, the one in which she'd put up to account Vienna being one irritating the queen, which you could clearly see planning out what she'd soon say in a later confessional; head in her hands, rubbing her face.
[VIENNA SAUSAGE]: The most tired joke of the season is Scarlet and her vampire gig.
"Anyway, to finish myself-" Satina coughs, making sure she gets chance to finish her sentence before another interruption "- we made the top four! We did great."
She gestures to them to put their hands in the middle, each placing one hand into a pile and then release as to celebrate their achievement.
“Fantasia’s right, we might’ve not had it massively hard this season, but we’re damn well a great top four who’s representative of what this competition is about. Let’s serve it to them in this challenge.”
Scarlet adds, the others agreeing. The distant mirage of the sea glistening in the topaz sun creates a facade of sparkles on the camera, slowly dimming in quality and fading into the glistens. Once the flare dissolves, the journey of the rising moon is shown in a time-lapse, and a kaleidoscope of stars were now in place of the previous sparkles.
The camera spins around to face a blast of neon, ambient lighting. The mainstage had once again been constructed on the large patio, candles lit that trace the side and stage lights strung from the copper pole infrastructure. A storm of neon hues emitted from the judging panel, blasting the ghouls who had already positioned themselves on the stage. Gentle wind chimes can be heard, morphing into an instrumental EDM beat as the lens spins and tilts - panning pass the feet of the final four and over to an approaching figure.
THE ALFONSI MAIN STAGE WEEK 5
The stage lights caught traction off something reflective on the hosts face who continued to walk over; refracting off beads of sweat from the earlier scene of intimacy which had frosted into crystal droplets, tracing her sharp cheek-bones and resting amongst the shimmering dual-tone highlight on her face, emulating sweat - but not to a grossly extent.
Fringe from the oversized jacket was made, the denim material shredded into long strip facades that swung elegantly around her body and tall legs. Her lingerie and corset - emblazoned with embroidery of stars seen in the sky above - now tainted a similar blue.
“Hey my favourite top four.”
She steps up on the higher-levelled platform on which the panel stood, standing before the throne and welcoming the remaining contestants.
“I’m so proud of all of you. Yes, season 5 hasn’t particularly been the hardest due to the smaller cast and usual trend of quits, but you are all the epitome of what this competition is meant to be for - creativity and fun. I’ve loved and enjoyed reading your submissions weekly to see what you’d bring and my heart flutters to see how greatly you’re all doing. There is no doubt that in terms of submissions and diversity, this is one of the strongest top fours we’ve had.”
They all nod, smiling at their appraisal. Fantasia finally takes a seat into the comforts of the faux-leather lining of the metallic throne.
“This week you were asked to celebrate romance, but in other-wordly Dragula fashion. Italy is known for its romance and fashion, so what better place to have this challenge. Due to Amelia’s departure, none of you will be going home. So, just to confirm once again, you are the top four! Now, let’s see how you did.”

Fantasia’s Critiques: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C826guNRh54GtwhPDAiah6rVglpkMLeB65giVNrUvBI
After a lengthy critiques session, the ghouls prepare to hear their placements.
Satina, you have improved so much, but your floor shows this week didn’t get my heart thumping enough to win. Great work, you’re safe.”
Satina nods, thanking Fantasia and whispering quick luck to her fellow contestants before proceeding to the back of the stage.
Leviathan, you have also improved too, but this week's floorshow was rushed meaning your concept did not shine and your execution needed… more love. Even though you’re safe, you’re still in the bottom this week. You may leave the stage.”
Leviathan smiles, happy to be safe and expecting her placement. She joins Satina, her fellow safe sister, at the back of the stage.
“This top two was immensely hard to judge between. Scarlet, your execution - as usual - was off the charts, and your concept was great, you just need to learn the balance of mediation. Vienna, your concept was enthusiastic, it was great camp, filth and horror, but it needed to be fleshed out much more and given the love it deserved. I even had to confer to S3 winner Angie Apathy so I had a peer with me and to get a second opinion. Whilst she agreed it was close, she did state - and agree that - whilst your concept can be incredible, we can only see and appreciate it to the extent you present it. With much discussion, we came down to a winner, but let it be known that you both did amazing this week…”

Scarlet Venom, congratulations, you’re the winner of this week's challenge.”
The safe ghouls break into applause as the winner is announced, Vienna hugging Scarlet and congratulating her on her win.
[SCARLET VENOM]: Four wins is… crazy. I feel as if Vienna should have won the challenge, but we all did great, so props to us.
“The first contestant in Reddit Dragula history to win four challenges, good job!”
Applause continues with the announcement but eventually diffuses.
“I’d like to remind you all that Reddit Dragula is not about stats. They of course are considered and are important, but when the finale comes, the finale comes. We remember your performances, not the stats, and so I congratulate all of you for being so triumphant and great this week - as you have the past weeks.” Fantasia congratulates all of them. “Now, just one more challenge to go until the finale.”
Those last words of the episode from the host echo around the vast nature surrounding, the stars coming into focus in the background, lines being drawn between them as to point to a constellation that read: Reddit Dragula. The freak parade was soon to come to a close, and with just for ghouls left, who’s going to take the crown?
Me.
Nebulas contort in the still motion of the night-sky, the galaxy changing shape; not only likely due to the records that have been broken in this episode, but also the universe preparing for endgame.
Congratulations to the top four. This week was immensely close, and so I thank Angie Apathy (u/msmonochrome) for giving me a second opinion. We discussed it and it sort of reinforced my previous points. All of you are winners, but congratulations to Scarlet for breaking a record, and again to Satina, Leviathan and Vienna* for being so persistent, great and hard-working.
PS: I swear this episode isn’t meant to be funny, most of it was written outside of sequester and so I wrote what came to mind - with careful selection of course.
Also, there is a reason for that random Italian man. You’ll soon find out!

The woman was seen wearing a jacket that was blatantly his; hanging massively oversized in folds of blue-denim over her petite frame, although stained dark over the wear of time, frayed slightly at the edges but saturated with must. Cigarette smoke from the streets of Rome, sweat from under the blazing son and loose coins that had become malleable from said heat in the pockets.
Once the flare dissolves, the journey of the rising moon is shown in a time-lapse, and a mirage of stars were now in place of the previous sparkles.
The camera spins around to face a blast of neon, ambient lighting. The mainstage had been constructed on the large patio, candles lit that trace the side and stage lights strung from the copper pole infrastructure.

Me.

2019.11.30 06:47 KhazemiDuIkana All Need Is 30 Death (Valley of the Kings II)

"So, names. Names would be good", Boris said as he lay Mila and Rowain by the fire the traveling gunmen had started in the heath of the saloon-hotel.
"Name's Gannon, Gannon O'Reilly", said the Irishman who seemed to be their charismatic leader. "This is Lenny Eggs, you may know him by the moniker of... Edgar Price?", he said, gesturing to the thick-moustachioed, elongated man to his right. He waited for Boris to recognize the name, but continued when he clearly did not. "And this is Iwamoto Ren", he introduced the scruffy Japanese man on his left. "Intense-lookin' feller over by the fire is an I-talian by the name of Orsino Corsico. Now, if you wouldn't mind the same courtesy?"
"I'm Boris-4. Mila-3 over here, Rowain-5 next to her on the left."
"Why the numbers?" Lenny (Edgar?) asked.
"Well, those are reset numbers... ah, I guess you wouldn't be familiar with Exos. Lemme explain." Boris removed his helmet, and a shock of thick, straight brown hair fell over his eyes, which were wide with shock, if anyone could see them.
"Um... oh... uh..." Boris ran over to his fellow Guardians. He removed Mila's helmet, and saw not the familiar black-and-purple-painted mechanical face of his girlfriend, but instead a pallid Russian woman whose long, black hair spilled out over her face and shoulders. He pulled off Rowain's helm to find a woman whose general features and shock of curly red hair implied Irish descent, but whose dark complexion implied otherwise.
"Uh... don't suppose you guys know what, uh, robots are?"
"What, now?" Gannon asked quizically.
"Uh... yeah, never mind, forget the whole Exo thing for now. How do we heal them?"
"I'm afraid I'm not sure ya do, par'ner", Lenny/Edgar said with a strange tone, like an amused grimness. Boris weighed his options here. He could, perhaps, given enough time, generate enough Light between Scooby, Dexter and Clyde, to either heal Mila significantly at the possible expense of Rowain's life, or heal Mila to a more or less functional level and stabilize Rowain, leaving them with no further auxillary Light until a safe room.
However, he didn't trust these men. They may have bought them some time, but he got a distinctly uneasy feeling from them. At the very least, these men were amoral crooks, if not something more twisted. Every wire in his... every hair on his body stood on attention. He didn't think for a minute that bringing out a ghost right now would be a good idea.
He considered taking them out. His guns were better, his armor more advanced than people of their time had ever dreamed of. But they still outnumbered him, and the girls were completely vulnerable, and these men were from this goddamn place, so who knew what they were capable of...
Still, Boris did not know first aid, and if he didn't do something soon, Rowain and Mila would die. He considered waiting for the men to fall asleep, but he had no way of guaranteeing he wouldn't fall asleep first. He also had to worry about hunger, and didn't know if they did. He assumed not.
"So where're you guys passing through from?" he asked.
"We been on the road since west Missouri. Passed through a lot of country on our way out here. First time in town in I don't know how long, and we get hit by freak storm of the decade, looks like", Lenny/Edgar said.
"Where you headed?"
"Back out west, where we belong. Some rotten business pushed us east, and we think time's come to push back out to the desert. 'Cept the desert's gone tundra."
Gannon stroked his long goatee with an anxious jitter. "I shudder to think how cold the old country must be if the winter here's so rotten."
"So you're all from different countries, right?"
"Yeah, mate. Ren's from a Japanese city by the name of Kyoto. Orsino's from the I-talian city of Forlí, Lenny's a Missouri river boy and I been here six years after the first boat from Belfast. All met up robbin' the same train out by Tombstone. Ran together almost a year now."
"Robbers, eh?" Boris forced a chuckle.
"Don't be tellin' me yer an officer of the law, looking like such", Gannon forced a chuckle in kind.
"Well, not exactly."
"Bounty hunter?" Lenny asked, with a sinister hint of purpose.
"Something more like that, yeah. Big game. Not guys like you. Picture more... rogue generals and warlords."
"Oh, we got ourselves a special soldier! I'll drink to it, won't we lads?"
"Is this the best time to drink?" Ren asked.
"Bloody fuck, we're not goin' back out in that bloody storm tonight, you daft cunt! We're stuck in a saloon fer fuck sake, what else are we gonna do? Disrespect our new friend? His bloody girl is bled raw, I say he deserves it! Eh?" Gannon gestured at Boris to confirm.
"I... why not, sure."
"See? He doesn't wanna fuckin' die, I don't wanna fuckin' die, let's drink so we don't freeze and fuckin' die"
"Morire è vivire", Orsino muttered, continuing to stare into the fire.
"Fuckin' say it in English! We all speak English! Your fucking fascination with this little habit of yours, I swear!"
"To die is to live", Orsino repeated himself.
"Wh-- shut up, you... well, fuck. I'm goin' behind the bar."
"Windsor, we're at the Met! Anything to watch out for inside?"
"First, get inside!"
"You OK?"
"I'm currently dancing around trying to stay alive and not kill the civilians currently trying to murder me."
"What!?"
"Cultist killed himself, Red Bull of Spain attacked me. I killed the bull, it was possessed or something, and now everyone on the film set is trying to kill me. I don't want to leave the area until you have a sightline from the Met. I'm assuming that--"
In the corner of each Guardian's helmet interface: Offerings remaining: 30
"--yeah. You see that? Cultists want us to kill, I bet it's their chance at salvaging the ritual. Why else would the bull go down so easily, right?"
"I dunno, guess that makes sense. OK, so the lobby is... big, open, full of Egyptian and Mesopotamian art. There's some kind of control panel... oh woah, the fuck?"
"What is it?", Windsor panted.
"Uh, it looked like some kinda floor chart, I picked the next one up and now everything has changed to an exhibit of marine life and the Maori's relationship with the ocean. I'm gonna hit the highest floor... OK, we're in like... this weird funnel room. Looks like a backroom or something?"
"Funnel--white floor?"
"Yeah!"
"That's the theatres! Offices should... watch the flat walls. You see an office door, you take it. Do NOT let any performers see you. It'll be obvious who is one. And... how's your Light?"
"Huh?"
"I'm able to use my Light. It's how I've been evading this crowd. It's weak, I can't do everything, but I can jump, and I can heal, albeit very slowly. I might be able to rez, but I'm not trying to find out right now."
"Uh... well, now that you mention it, I'm not feeling as much like shit as I was 20 minutes ago..."
"Thought it was in my head, honestly..." Liesel commented.
Aktaf meandered around til he felt Liesel tug at his sleeve and lead him through a side door. Immediately ahead was a hallway, carpeted with a mixture of blues, pinks, blacks and yellows that were so blended as to have the overall effect of "grey" even if it did not contain the actual color. To their left, a dimly-lit---"
"Office!" Aktaf threw the door open and pointed his weapon around the room. Liesel shut the door as she entered. The room was cramped by poorly-arranged desks and file cabinets, and blinds were drawn over the windows. Peeking out through them, Aktaf relayed what he saw to Windsor as Liesel secured the room.
"OK, first thing you gotta know is that above the cloudline, it's daylight."
"Interesting. What else you see?"
"The towers roll back... er, I honestly can't tell because the sense of scale is still miserably fluid. Looks like there's a hill, and the towers kinda... stick straight out of the ground, like they aren't built to be level with each other?"
"How far away is the financial district?"
"Pretty... close, I think? Maybe 20 minutes by sparrow. Although, uh.... I know it's dark down there and you're being chased, but can you see across the water? Is... İstanbul on the other side of the river where Jersey should be? Hagia Sophia is right there. And it's dwarfed by a football stadium near you..."
"I see the stadium."
"Agh, dammit. I can see the players in the stadium. From all the way over here... Windsor, I don't think I'm reliable as far as locking the shape of the city. It's completely and utterly fucking with my perspective."
Suddenly, the doorknob jiggled. Aktaf and Liesel held their breath and snapped to attention. A muffled voice asked complainingly who locked his office, then wandered off, disgruntled.
"Windsor, we're gonna... come to you..."
"And how're you planning on doing that?"
"Train?"
"Good luck. Stay safe. I wish I could be more directly helpful. Stay on the line."
Exiting the mosque, Chandragupta felt immediately in the night air a sort of sweetness and longing. A sort of mystic whimsy juxtaposed against dark severity. Paradoxically ominous sanctity.
"Ariadne. Do you feel that?"
"Depends what you're talking about."
"There's a few things going on, to be fair. This is the Valley of the Radio Towers. It's an extremely common entry point to the Four Winds Bar, and also a place of egress. The fact that an instance is bound to the Necropolis is... worrying. Not that I expect people to just be dropping in, but... not great. Ariadne, in all likelihood, we'll be passing through here when we look for Alois. Today, though, we're taking advantage of how easy it is to travel. I think I know how we can find Windsor, at least. Maybe even Rowain, though that's a shot in the dark... come on. There's a road that snakes through here. Along the way, sometimes, are wooden totems. They can be used to find things, people, places. They're often used for rituals... any rituals. They're like... fetishes that can be purposed by any group for whatever needs."
"Fetishes?" Freya asked in confusion.
"Ritual objects. Not sexual. Usually."
"And... if anyone can use them..." Eldris began.
"Yes, it is entirely likely that our particular Mystery Cult is making use of one or more. Might have a fight on our hands. Hopefully we'll just be able to find Windsor and, by extension, the rest of them. Keep a lookout for demons and ghosts and whatever other crap is lurking in the forest. We'll be lucky to get through unmolested."
Boris was, after only a few drinks, more or less inebriated. He could barely focus on the task at hand. Gannon bellowed with laughter nearly unceasingly. Lenny nauseously grinned along. Ren remained quiet and reserved, slowly nursing the same drink he started with, even as Lenny and Gannon slammed down round 12. And that creepy fuck Orsino remained crouched in front of the fireplace, staring endlessly into the flames, largely silent aside from the occasional prayer muttered in Italian.
Boris stood, holding the table for balance, and swayed over to Rowain and Mila. He checked their pulses. Still alive. He fought the urge to pass out. He had to subjugate... he needed these guys out if the equation... well, he needed...
He needed to stay awake. And he needed to be able to fight. He was markedly less worried about Gannon and Lenny. They seemed to be in their own world of clumsy drunken shenanigans. Ren surveyed the room like an eagle, probably serving as bodyguard for his friends. And Orsino. What the fuck was Orsino's deal? Fucking staring at the fire and muttering about death in Italian.
Oh, shit. Was Orsino a cultist? Boris decided to dangle a little bait.
"Scooby... see if you can't share some Ligh' wi'the girls."
"I'll be exposed, Boris..."
"Yez, you will. I've got you."
"You can't metabolize that alcohol."
"I've got you."
"That's comforting...." Scooby fluttered out and began healing Mila and Rowain to the best of his ability. As Boris had suspected, Orsino's gaze was drawn away from the fire, his deranged eyes fixated on Boris's ghost. Boris turned to catch Ren also staring, but something was different about the energy behind his and Orsino's stares. Ren's was curious and wary. Orsino's was that of a predator who's just seen his prey.
Alas, Boris could not just kill the man without due cause, else he and the girls would be slaughtered by the rest of them. He needed Orsino to go for the kill, and he needed to make sure he was the target. How to do this? How to make himself more of a target than the nearly-dead unconscious women he came with? Only one thing came to his mind. It might not have been the ideal thing, but it was all he could think to do.
"Hey, Ren. You seem sober enough t'follow explations, yeah?" Boris said loudly, waving over the Japanese stoic, who set down his drink and approached the spot where Boris's ghost funneled Light into Mila and Rowain, whose wounds began to very slowly improve.
"I'm listening", he said, glancing at Orsino before turning back to Boris.
"I wanna splain what'n Exo is. Remem'r from earl'er? We're from a very different time than this, you prob'ly figured from the clothes and everything. This lil' guy is called an Exo. He fixes us up when we're or'inarily too busted to live. It's called a reset when that happens. It's top-secret state'a the art military technology. Won't be invented for another 4,000 years. Even time travel comes first."
"Lui sta mentendo", Orsino said.
"Che?" Ren responded.
"Mentisce. Ci prende per gli sciocchi."
Ren drew his pistol on Boris, and turned back to Orsino. "Come lo sai?"
"So chi è. Sono tra quelli che cerco."
"We've found Orsino's bounty!" Ren shouted. Gannon and Lenny stood at the closest thing to attention they were capable of.
"Ah, shit. Ghosts, all of you, pour everything you got into Mi", Boris said before drawing a handcannon and firing. He managed to hit Lenny and Gannon before being himself gunned down by Orsino and Ren.
Who, in turn, were shot by Mila.
"I did it, Mi. I got us out of this jam", Boris rasped.
"Not exactly, but we did take care of the immediate threat. Still injured though."
"Ah, we can take care of that."
"How?"
"Uhh.... just trust m--"
A shift in scenery, and something new in the corner of their once-more helmeted vision:
Offerings remaining: 26/30
"Oh shit, what's this mean?"
"So yeah, that's why we need to stick close together and stay focused."
"But Chandy, here's what I'm not understanding", Freya said. "The road changes at will, yes?"
"Yes."
"But knowing landmarks anchors it to a specific path?"
"Yes."
"So if I know, say, that traffic light a ways back, I can count on ending up at this generator here?"
"If you expect to, yeah. There are setpieces and they're linked together and if you memorize how they match up you can walk that path again. The more you do it, the more that path solidifies for you. If you aren't sure where you are, it'll kinda randomly generate until you do, one way or another. It's pretty simple."
"I have a question though, Chandy", Eldris interjected. "If this is the Valley of the Radio Towers, where are the, ah.... radio towers?"
"They're not usually visible, ironically. They loom over the whole forest, but being in the valley themselves, it's easy for them to get blocked out by the treeline. Being that we're passing the Small Generator Station, we're on track to get a pretty nice vista of them soon enough. They'll appear close here; it's actually fairly difficult to, er, actually reach the radio towers, and even if you did, erm, you might not want to. They're not entirely dissimilar to sirens. They tend to get this... hold on people, that draws them nearer and deeper into the forest. Which, of course, is always dark. The Valley is a set shape during the daytime, which rarely comes and passes quickly. It's not very mystical during the day, which has its perks and downsides. Not dangerous, but also much less interesting and useful."
"How much farther until we reach this altar or whatever?"
"Not that far beyond the sight of the towers. We'll reach the crest of this hill, see the towers, then head to the bottom of the hill and there should be a house. It is a dark and dangerous house, but we need to harness its altar. I advise keeping armed and alert."
Soon they reached the hill's apex, and in the distance approximately, at least so it appeared, a mile away, were a trio of tall, slender lattice towers, made visible by the loud red lights which blinked periodically along their lengths. Indeed, to behold them gave rise to complicated feelings, of longing and devotion under a veneer of deep primal wariness.
"I won't stop you from looking at the towers, but you must not allow yourself to give in to their siren call. We are in the heart of the Valley. If we stay pure in our focus, we could end this tonight."
"Aktaf... did you kill someone...?"
"I was about to ask you that! Because we have not."
"This must be taking into account the rest of our fireteam..."
"What's supposed to happen if we reach 30 deaths?"
"I don't know! I get the impression it's probably nothing that benefits us."
"Yeah, that makes sense. So what's the gameplan, Windsor? If the red cultist is dead, and the bull is dead, what's... what's next?"
"I don't know! I'm... I'm going to head up Wall Street, see if I can navigate towards the World Trade Center. Head up, get a view, see if...maybe I'll notice something you didn't. I'm spitting in the dark here."
"Well, I'll have you know I am filled with the utmost confidence right now. Definitely not worried at all."
"Don't be so pessimistic, guys!" Liesel interjected.
"Yeah, you're right..." Aktaf admitted. "OK, Windsor, we're still gonna head your way. We're leaving through the theatres now."
"This is the place."
"This is the house? Can you really even call it a house?"
"It's more homey on the inside. It's intact, at least. And it really does look like a house."
"This is a bunch of fucked-up sheet metal rusted together into a shape vaguely resembling some kind of building."
"C'mon, Freya, you oughta be used to this sort of thing by now!" Chandragupta teased as he jumped into the knee-deep water and waded past the tall reeds and decomposing old road signs that pocked the marsh. Following close behind, the others waded after him into the much-larger and statelier interior, which resembled the home of a well-to-do family of perhaps the 1920s. Dimly-lit only by a red glow from deeper within, the four of them stalked forth towards the light source. Passing through a living room and a dining room, they found, in place of a kitchen, a room dedicated to a strange altar, one which radiated a heady, reverberating power, neutral yet strained through a sieve of darkness and malicious intent.
Startled by an inhuman cry of some unintelligible language, the fireteam turned to see they were surrounded by a wall of cultists, distinguished from the others by the presence of more gold chains about their bodies, and that their skull masks were deformed and mutated. They brandished makeshift medieval weaponry; morningstars made from bricks and bikechains, mauls made from metal pipes, baseballs and nails.
"Not today", Chandragupta wrathfully declared, initiating a Stormtrance and paralyzing the lot of them. "Use your Light! It may be weaker, but you should be able to pile it up or something! Just barrage them!!"
Eldris flung a blizzard of flaming knives, killing those stunned by Chandragupta. Freya laid a tether by the door, and Ariadne waded through the ensnared cultists delivering point-blank burst fire to their faces. Left and right they dropped, an increasing variety of weaponry flying from their dying hands. Small, bladed pyramids. Bottles with triggers. A Vex slap rifle. Bullets threaded on chains.
Chandragupta powdered the altar with various sacred dusts. The room began to gradually shift to a bluer tone. He focused...
Offerings remaining: 9/30
"Windsor! Chandragupta for you!"
"Patch him in, Akhenaten!"
"Hey, Windsor? It's Chandragupta, can you hear me?"
"I can hear you! What the fuck's going on out there!?"
"Cultist enclave in the Valley of the Radio Towers! And we can use Light again! It's even stronger now that we've taken out the red priest."
"Chandy, noooooo...."
"What?"
"You don't see that? The offering tally? It dwindles whenever one of us causes a death?"
"Uhhh none of us have it!"
"I haven't been killing anyone. Not since the Red Bull of Spain."
"You... you killed the Red Bull of Spain...!?"
"It was possessed! A high priest killed himself and the bull attacked me!"
"Oh--ooooohhhhh... that makes sense... Windsor, we... we're almost done, but... this last part is gonna be a liiiittle hard."
"Better tell me fast before you kill the last few cultists, then!"
"We're all going to the Royal Crypt. Full Light. But we're going in duos, and there will be no communication until we stand before Basileos Megán and Archaeos Therón. And, we don't have a chance to prepare for them. We're gonna... we're just gonna rawdog the kings."
"So we want to kill people?"
"Well, I mean... we're not supposed to find it easy. We really lucked out with this little cloister here, eh?"
Ariadne gunned down yet another of the cultists. He fell backwards and knocked down a shelf, upon which was a gun, and while it was the least bizarre weapon of all that she had seen, the sight of it hit her almost like a flashbang. She picked it up. Inspected it. Checked every last detail to make dead sure it was really it. Time slowed down and the world fell away as she studied the gun in her hands.
The room dissipated before Ariadne's eyes as she holstered The Hummingbird, still clutching its grip.

2019.09.01 22:47 obadelia How-to: Romance Marisol (or Elisa?) [SPOILERS]

Day 8, Episode 3: Marisol makes her move after Rocco gets dumped.
Coupling up with Marisa as a love interest (LI) path is a very slow burn as she is more cautious when dating women. This means MC will be coupled to one of the boys for most of the time she spends trying to woo Marisol, and the romance is mainly undercover.
***** NOTE: This guide outlines choices on days 1-24 that trigger and advance romances with Marisol (and Elisa by proxy, depending on your choices). These days have a double asterisk (**) in the timeline below.
Update: [Edit: 09/03/2019] On Day 25, MC can couple with Elisa.
Update: [Edit: 09/17/2019] Special thanks to u/gaytrainwreck who is providing detailed overviews from Day 26 onwards. Links to those posts are below.
ROMANCE TIMELINE
Day 1**: MC must say she is bisexual (or open to a same-sex relationship) when Marisol talks about her sexuality during Truth or Dare.
Days 1 to 7: flirt with Marisol at every opportunity to increase your chances of triggering the LI story branch with her:
***** NOTE: Technically, as long as MC identifies as bisexual or open and empathizes with Marisol during Roccogate, Marisol will make her move on the evening of Day 8.
Day 8**: in the morning, first, talk to Rocco and Marisol and be supportive (MC doesn't have to stick around for their "human lie detector" game). Second, speak with Gary, Ibrahim, Lottie, and Priya. Tell Lottie that Rocco and Marisol seem happy (“I just spoke to Marisol” then “Tell the truth”)—otherwise MC alienates Marisol as an LI.
That evening, Marisol makes her move in a scene right after Rocco and Lucas/Henrik leave the Villa. She will ask only once if the MC is open to a relationship with her. Say yes when she asks if you’re open to a relationship with her… otherwise, MC has missed her chance.
Days 9, 11, 13, 14, 15: take every opportunity to flirt with, kiss, and/or have relationship talks with Marisol. Example: On Day 13, (A) at the disaster recoupling ceremony, "Catch Marisol's eye" to flirt non-vernally after Bobby chooses her, or (B) afterward in the bathroom, ask her "Have you considered me as an option?"... then kiss her.
Day 17: Regardless of how hard MC has grafted onto Marisol, she will always choose to bring Graham back from Casa Amor.
Day 19**: MC must choose Marisol as the Islander she wants to be coupled with when Chelsea asks.
Day 20**: (Elisa > optional) if MC is interested in Elisa, say hi to her (and not Jo) when she arrives. Smile at her when she’s chatting everyone up.
Day 21: (Elisa > optional) consider spending 10 Gems and chat with her when she beckons. It’s worth it.
Day 22**: MC must choose Marisol as the person she wants to couple with when Hope asks for a “strategy chat”, then reassure Marisol throughout the conversation.
Day 24**: (Elisa > optional) If MC kissed Elisa on Day 21 she makes her intentions known in a special wee-hours-of-the-night scene.
Later, to keep focused on Elisa when a "new" Islander arrives with intentions towards MC, tell him "Sorry, you're not my cup of tea" or "No way, I'm loyal, babe" on the date.
***** NOTE 09/20/2019: I have personally been unable to honestly recouple with Elisa; it doesn't work on my play-thrus. I've filed a support ticket and will update this guide ASAP.
(Elisa > optional) After dressing, MC must tell Chelsea privately about Elisa grafting and say she's interested in her ("I am a bit").
Day 25**: [Edit: 09/20/2019] Twice, MC will be prompted to talk or think about who she really wants to be with. Continue to choose Marisol or Elisa when prompted.
(Elisa > optional) To recouple with Elisa: in the post-dressing room chat with Chelsea, tell her about Elisa. After chatting...
At recoupling, by being faithful, MC is second in the selection order. By cheating, MC is last, leaving Elisa as her only option (Marisol couples with Bobby).

Day 27: [Edit: 09/17/2019] Click here for a detailed overview by u/gaytrainwreck.

2019.08.24 23:20 Legitimate__Username One year ago, I agreed to watch Hunter × Hunter if my friend watched One Piece. Here are my thoughts on the series and my first experiences with it (episodes 1-92).

If you'd like to see her post with her updated thoughts on One Piece, here it is.
This assessment will cover the dubbed version of the 2011 anime from the very beginning up until the Chimera Ant Queen's death. Unfortunately, this was not a fully blind viewing, and spoiled content still remains in the future for me, but I was still able to experience most of the story without knowledge of what to expect.

Hunter Exam arc

The opening arc was just an absolute ton of fun, being one of my favorite arcs in the series and overall what seems to me like the most underrated part of the show. From the very beginning with the setup of the trio of Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio, the three of them showed a ton of chemistry and variety and it made it a joy just to follow their story. Their mix of sweet, serious, and cynical just gave the entire show so much life on such a simple and mundane level. Killua's following addition to the main cast was great as well, with his budding friendship with Gon being extremely heartwarming even from this early on.
At this point in the story Gon was my favorite character just for his sheer positivity and how fun he was to watch, but Leorio ran a dangerously close second, and I thought he was by far the most important of the three for setting the show's tone. Between our standard upbeat shonen progatonist with a legendary father and our cold and serious last survivor of an exotic race seeking revenge, having Leorio as a part of the group, just some random dude looking for a way to get rich quick, really helped to drive home the idea that anyone can be Hunter regardless of how much anime backstory bullshit they have crammed into them, and that even a much more regular guy can make it up there if their willpower is strong enough. His role as a greedy everyman wasn't just hilariously fun to watch, it really helped to define what a Hunter is and what it means to be one.
The arc as a whole for the first six episodes was overall pretty uninteresting events-wise and was mostly just fun for the sake of seeing the characters build up, but Phase 3, the Trick Tower, is where things got really exciting. The entire contest against the prisoners was just loaded to the brim with memorable moments, with everything from Tonpa's surrender and horrified realization, Gon's candle contest, Kurapika's rage, Leorio's betting to outsmart a seemingly-unconscious Majitani, and Killua's swift murder of Johness.
Zevil Island kept the story going at a fantastic pace, with the badge stealing being a fun and intense competition to keep the stakes up. As cool as Gon and Hisoka's plotline was, Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika really stole the show here for me, with their antics against the much less threatening examinees being hilarious and satisfying.
Gon's fight against Hanzo was also an amazing scene. For context, at the time I had watched this, One Piece had only just recently wrapped up Luffy's big fight at the end of Whole Cake Island in the manga, and while these two fights certainly weren't the same, there are still some parallels that can be drawn between them that just made Gon's raw determination and willpower here extra satisfying to watch for me.
One moment I really need to single out as particularly outstanding was Leorio's anger at Hanzo for his torment of Gon for an entire three hours of fighting. After Hanzo went all-in on another threat and broke Gon's arm, we got this fantastic exchange between clenched teeth as they were seething with rage:
Leorio: "Don't try to stop me, Kurapika. If that bastard does anything else, Gon will fail the exam, 'cause I won't be able to stop myself."
Kurapika: "Me? You think I'll stop you? Don't worry, there's no chance of that."
Like holy shit, after all this time setting up Leorio as the emotional one who'd get easily consumed by anger and Kurapika as the rational one who would have to calm him down, I did not expect them to be pushed so far that even Kurapika was so pissed off that he couldn't hold back his anger and was threatening the same things. This hit really hard, and really cemented their friendship with and caring of Gon at an insane level. Then after this, Gon gets up, the music shifts to a fun and upbeat tune, and Gon just takes the leverage into his hands through pure stubbornness and casually talks about how if he bleeds to death then Hanzo would be forced to forfeit. The tones that this show manage to hit are just really something else.
Even in a general sense, the tone of this arc was honestly something really special. It was so fun and upbeat and full of positive life and energy, and yet despite that, characters were killed off with such nonchalant frequence and the setting was established as so much more dark and unforgiving than the lead cast seemed to be recognizing. It was an exciting and enjoyable time balanced out by just a slight enough hint of the unnerving to keep you on your toes, and no other arc in the show was able to really match this tone at all, drowning out all of the horrifying things going on through Gon's sheer positive outlook in a world brimming with possibilities. This arc really stood out to me as some of the best and most memorable content the series had to offer, and I really think it deserves a lot more recognition than it seems to get.

Zoldyck Family arc

Honestly I just found this one to be pretty dull and uninteresting overall. I don't really have much to say about it. It just felt like a lot of waiting around with nothing really happening, and the only decent moments we got out of it were Silva and Zeno's surprisingly heartwarming treatment of Killua. Certainly it was clearly important for worldbuilding and setting up these characters for future use, but the whole thing was just paced way too slowly with almost nothing happening. Faster pacing and some better-handled stakes (feeling like a dragged-out impossible mission concluding with an anti-climax is a bad combination) could have made it a lot less of a drag. I will say though that I did really enjoy the anti-climactic ending and thought it was super heartwarming, the problem is that it made all of the boring lead-up into it feel even more extra pointless.

Heaven's Arena arc

Despite being primarily centered around exposition, or more likely because of it, I found this arc to be overall pretty fun to go through. I don't have a lot to say about the Nen system outside of the usual praises of how creative and effective it is, but it was a cool enough idea to carry this arc just through the pure curiosity of learning more about it and seeing Gon and Killua develop through its early stages. The ending of the arc in particular was probably my favorite part of it, with all of the setup for them advancing floors and maintaining a strong winning record in order to reach the next phase just being cut completely short as Gon didn't care anymore after he had his fight with Hisoka. This kid's just got his own goals and nothing else matters to him.
Killua's presence in the story is something that I really appreciate, because he doesn't have any kind of dream to chase or any real life goals motivating him. He's kind of just willing to go along with whatever Gon does because he likes his friendship and doesn't have anything better to do, which is kind of nice. At this point I'm just so used to the standard shonen character having some insane dream to chase driving them through everything they do, and while Gon, Kurapika, and even Leorio are able to fill this quota plenty, it's actually pretty refreshing to see one of the major characters change things up and act as a more relatable to real life person who just doesn't know his place in the world and is just looking for that answer. The fact that he finds meaning in his life through his friendship in Gon instead of just having some deep existential crisis over it keeps it cute and lighthearted while letting him stay grounded in his lack of a grandiose dream to chase.

Phantom Troupe arc

Here we are, the supposed crown jewel of everything the show has to offer, the fan favorite, the arc that I was told that she just hoped I reached this one and everything after it was kinda whatever. I thought that there was no way in hell that this arc could live up to the hype that everyone I saw was piling upon it. Of course, my low expectations were proven wrong.
There really isn't much I can say about the Phantom Troupe that hasn't been said already. Having heard of them as a group of villains who cared a lot about each other and their friendships instead of being all evil to each other, I didn't think the concept sounded particularly new or revolutionary. But the way they were handled was almost unlike anything I'd seen before and I can't come up with any comparisons or draw any parallels. Villainous groups in anime being friendly comrades has certainly been done many times before, but generally, they always act with the same goals and are the same means to the same end, with only their personalities setting them apart. The Phantom Troupe feels like it's filled not with various members of the same group, but unique individuals, all with their own unique beliefs, goals, and standards, but still moving after any common interests led by Chrollo. They work together to accomplish the same tasks, but they have conflict among themselves, they disagree about things, they each exude their own unique will onto the flow of the story and influence it by themselves rather than only as a part of something larger. There are plenty of sympathetic villains out there, and plenty of deeply fleshed-out ones, but I've never seen a villainous group that the story felt so intimately close with as individuals.
The opening sequences of the Phantom Troupe beginning their theft and fighting off the mafia were some of the most intense and memorable episodes of the whole show to me. Every moment of this was just that perfect type of gripping where you can't end an episode without immediately starting the next one, though Uvogin taking down the Shadow Beasts was certainly an obvious highlight that really put into perspective how the Troupe was just on a completely different level from the mafia. It's pretty easy to take for granted now how badly Uvogin utterly destroyed them, but at the time, the tension from really not knowing what to expect from two incredibly hyped-up groups of criminals kept me on the edge of my seat.
Kurapika never struck me as too much as a fantastic draw of the series, he was always great and fine but never stood out to me as all that unique and interesting. Phantom Troupe was his arc, and it gave him so much time to shine that really made him so much more compelling beyond just the straight man of the group with a revenge-driven backstory looming in the background. His rise to the top of the Nostrade Family was entertaining, and it only served to compound his character development from being driven solely by vengeance to his acceptance that killing those who wronged his people won't make his life any better as his plan to kill those at the top of the mafia group was silently dropped as he developed genuine professional loyalty to his employers. His quick mastery of his Nen abilities was a sight to behold, given that his power and capabilities drew from his pure and raw determination to take down the Phantom Troupe it was impressive to see that willpower manifest itself such that he could even restrain Uvogin so effortlessly. Their fight was pretty much the best one the series gave us so far, with his reveal that he was intentionally dropping hints that he was a manipulator instead of a conjurer in order to gain an advantage being my favorite moment, and their overall fight being one of the few scenes in the show that I found to have a strong emotional impact between Kurapika's disgust and Uvogin's calm sacrificial acceptance of his fate.
As great as Kurapika's story was, the subplot with Gon, Killua, and Leorio trying to find ways to get rich quick among the chaos of the auction really stole the show for me. Seeing the three of them with a further developed friendship since Hunter Exam made their chemistry so much stronger and more entertaining to watch, and even the most casual and mundane moments between them just felt so heartwarming. Believe it or not, this arc managed to me the one that cemented Leorio as my favorite character in the show over Gon, his scenes just ended up being the ones that I always looked forward to and enjoyed watching the most. I really can't stress enough how much I loved these parts of the arc, they were still just the B plot compared to the Phantom Troupe drama but I still loved every moment of it and look back on these moments so fondly as some of the last meaningful Leorio content we got for like several dozen episodes.
This was also the arc that was finally able to endear me to Hisoka. Given that he spent all of Hunter Exam as just an unbeatable and infallible presence of power that was more irritating than entertaining, and with Heaven's Arena at least giving the chance to flesh out his skill at fighting in more detail causing him to at least earn some amount of respect as a person rather than just as a powerful entity, an arc where he was really able to shine through his unique motives relative to the protagonists and the Phantom Troupe and maintain that aura of intrigue beyond just being a benchmark to sit way above the main characters. The Troupe's constant distrust of him and his uneasy alliance with Kurapika just gave him tons of moments that were able to be filled with far more tension than he was able to get out of the story beforehand. Not to mention his fake fortune and how he fooled the entire Troupe just to keep them from trying to leave the city.
I think that Nobunaga's mourning of Uvogin and his following insistence on recruiting Gon and Killua to the Troupe was my favorite thing that the arc gave us. I think it's the moment that more than any other, at least up until the arc finale, really showed off the Troupe's sympathetic side and genuine love of each other, their role as having goals more complex than being simple antagonistic figures with a willingness towards friendship even being on the table, and the disagreements and contrasts between them, with Nobunaga's insistence towards their recruitment being met with disagreement, skepticism, or tentative acceptance. Of all things, it was one of the most heartwarming parts of the story to me, despite Gon's steadfast refusal to have anything to do with the group and his hatred towards their hypocrisy.
Chrollo's fight against Zeno and Silva was something that I found a lot more compelling than I expected. For all of his confidence shown in the prior segments of the arc that mostly set him up to be a final boss style overwhelming threat, watching him just casually lie down from exhaustion the fight ended just really helped to ground him as a person instead of just as a villain.
Looks like I've pretty much covered everything up to the finale, and damn, I really loved every moment of it. I get the criticisms that it's gotten for being anticlimactic, but I thought that it was an incredibly fitting end to this story. Probably my favorite moment from this segment was Leorio secretly passing on the message to Gon and Killua right in the face of the Phantom Troupe ("What are you lookin' at kid, huh? What, you think this is a show? Scram!") had me practically cheering, this absolute champion had no fear and passed that along just through sheer absolute audacity. If Leorio hadn't been fully cemented as my favorite character before this, then this was the moment where he was pretty much locked into place at the top.
The conflict regarding the Troupe members and their attempts to figure out how to best deal with Kurapika's hostage situation is where they really got to shine extensively as unique characters with their own disagreeing ideals and conflicts. Kurapika managed to keep an absolutely irontight hold on their options, and it led to what was probably the funniest moment in the whole show.
Kurapika: "The general rule is that you will do as I tell you to. If you don't obey, I'll kill your leader immediately. First, do not come after us. Second, do not harm the two hostages. Third, put Pakunoda on the phone."
Phinks: "Can I ask you something first? It's about your second demand. See, the hostages started putting up a bit of a fight, so we had to break a few bones."
Kurapika: "Then we're done here." hangs up
Phinks: calls back "Sorry, I was lying. Both of them are okay."
Kurapika: "This is your last chance, try to take it seriously. Now put Pakunoda on the phone."
Phinks: gets punched by Machi and Nobunaga "OW!"
Seeing all of their conflicted assessments on how to handle the situation, between Feitan and Phinks's insistence that they should go after them and get revenge and Machi and Nobunaga's belief that they should obey Kurapika and let Pakunoda handle it, led to a lot of complex drama and high tension that made it easy to feel for both sides of the conflict. Chrollo being able to hold so much power over Kurapika as a hostage due to his belief in the worthlessness of his own life and his certainty that the Troupe would disobey him and go after them was beautifully contrasted with Pakunoda's empathy causing her to do the exact opposite and comply with all of Kurapika's demands in order to save his life not for the sake of the organization, but for the sake of a friend.
Gon and Killua's empathy for Pakunoda and the rest of the Troupe really took me by surprise, and damn was the payoff worth it. Phinks and Feitan cornering their escape at the auction just to tell them that how grateful Pakunoda was to them and how she sacrificed herself to transfer those memories of gratitude to the entire group was really heartwarming, and it was nice to see things manage to actually reach a genuinely bittersweet resolution between the duo and the Phantom Troupe rather than the expected resentment from how they were enemies for so long. It was really just such a fantastic note to end the story on.
Overall, I think my biggest praise of the Phantom Troupe arc is how close and intimately the story played with its characters. It felt like every major or even tangentially significant character had their beliefs and motives fully fleshed out while always doing so through showing instead of telling. Not only does each character feel like an individual person rather than another turning gear of the plot machine, the sheer number of people able to exert their own will and impact onto the story in a meaningful way made things constantly tense and unpredictable with so many moving parts going on at once. I've certainly seen my fair share of stories with tons of simultaneous moving parts like this, but none that did so in such a way that felt like it was playing so close to the hearts of its characters.

Greed Island arc

I went into this with very low expectations. Hell, I was kind of disappointed to see that Gon and Killua's payoff for all of the struggles they went through in the last arc was just the setup for an arc with a pretty weak reputation. In the end, though, I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was able to be throughout. It was never really anything mind-blowing, but given its role as a training arc, I was wholly expecting it to be pretty dull and uninteresting, when the training segments ended up being my favorite parts of the arc. The Nen system really lended itself well to episodes dedicated solely to Gon and Killua learning more about how to fully optimize its use being interesting and entertaining to follow rather than just a drag. Greed Island's systems as a game, while for the most part pretty dull, did have enough cool concepts thrown in to keep it from really getting too boring.
Seeing Gon and Killua's unique nen abilities finally start to develop definitely felt like it had been a long time coming. The rock paper scissors technique giving him a surprise choice between a powerful impact, a projectile, and a cutting strike was a really neat way to blend in Gon's three most potent Nen capabilities with attacks that offer a lot of functional variety that are super thematically fitting. Killua's electricity was pretty boring by comparison, it's certainly a useful power but it's the type of thing that's been done so many times in everything else that it's hard to get excited for it. Hopefully it'll get the chance to develop further into something with more interesting and unique applications, but I kind of have my doubts. In any case, watching him use his skills effortlessly pass the Hunter Exam on the first phase was hilarious.
I actually really liked Genthru as a villain. He wasn't some deep and complicated antagonist that I'm sure was expected from the show at this point, but he really didn't need to be. He was legitimately threatening and posed a great deal of genuine danger to the story that kept the stakes not only high but also not quite as straightforward as "beat up the bad guy to win". He was a skilled planner and that made watching his gambits go up against those of the other characters trying to play around his schemes pretty tense and exciting as he and the others constantly tried to stay steps ahead of each other. His moments of fear in response not to Gon's capabilities in combat, but to his legitimate insanity, were ultimately super satisfying. He's not going to be winning any awards for being the most compelling character anytime soon, but his presence in the arc really was a big part of what made it fun to watch, and he served the story really well.

Chimera Ants arc

This is the arc that I'm currently in the middle of and only have intermediate and unfinished thoughts on, and I got a lot of mixed opinions from others on it when going in. Some people praised it as the best arc in the series, and the arc that would address one of my biggest complaints with the show so far: that it was pretty weak in terms of emotional storytelling and having moments that are strong at making you feel things. Others, most notably my brother, had an extremely mixed opinion of it due to its lack of solid focus in its storytelling. I know that I haven't finished the arc yet and that it still has a lot of quality moments that I haven't even reached yet, but so far I'm finding it hard to be impressed.
The arc started off strongly enough. I was glad I read the first chapter of the manga before starting episode 1, as it was pretty clear here how badly they butchered Gon's backstory with Kite here. At the very least they could have easily stuck that backstory in the couple episodes of downtime between Heaven's Arena and Phantom Troupe, but leaving it out entirely caused much of that exposition to fall extremely flat and feel overall underwhelming. However, that's a weakness of the adaptation rather than the original story, so I don't really have a problem with it, I'm just glad that I read that first chapter well before reaching this point so that the change didn't really ruin anything too badly for me. In any case, Kite was a great story presence and seeing the three of them thrust straight into the action with the high-stakes scenario of invading the Chimera Ants's territory was intense, dark, and genuinely frightening at times.
Kite's shortly following demise was probably the first big misstep that the arc made here. Killing him off was fine when it was clear that the point of his character was to die in order to establish how intensely threatening and serious this all was to the newly powered up post-training-arc Gon and Killua (though I can't help but mention how much worse this effect was handled by the anime not introducing him sooner). The problem was that the story went and grinded to a halt with the two of them immediately leaving the area so that they could train more for the situation, with the stakes being set such that further action would needed to be taken in like a month. I think that this was an extremely big mistake. All of the sudden, the stakes that were clear and present and tangible with how so many bad things could happen to them were immediately gone, and replaced with "train enough in the next month or else". And this was coming fresh off of a major training arc that already powered them up significantly. I get the point that they were trying to make, that the two of them still weren't strong enough even after all this time, but it didn't really carry much meaning in exchange for what it lost by halting the story's pacing to a halt and suddenly cutting off all of the life-threatening stakes and tension that kept the arc interesting until then.
I think that a better way to handle it would have been to set the stakes of the King's birth to being imminent in only a few days, have other Hunters come in to save Gon and Killua, but ultimately not give them the chance to leave due to the urgency of the mission and forcing them into a sink or swim situation among the other Hunters where they know that they're still outclassed. I feel like there wouldn't have been notable negative storytelling consequences if this route were taken: an unnecessary training segment is removed, the stakes are far more clear and present in a more life-threatening nature, and any sense of powerscaling isn't really ruined when Gon and Killua still end up so heavily outclassed by the biggest threats of the arc anyway even after that extra month of training that the point is still driven home fine. I dunno, I just feel like the story lost a lot by pacing itself in this way when it could have been way more intense and dramatic if it just set the stage a little bit differently.
At the very least, Knuckle and Shoot were fantastic characters, and watching their sparring with Gon and Killua was always a ton of fun. Knuckle's sheer confidence leading into him taking a gigantic punch despite his immediately present fears was hilarious, and their budding friendship and subsequent training was cute. I would have liked to see this content of teaching Gon and Killua some more nuances of Nen combat occur in the NGL during the more present stakes in the situation that I outlined before, though. Give it a briefer rundown with some quicker sparring and force them to learn to apply that more quickly, to keep the intensity and sense of danger high even during a briefer segment to help advance their skills in a sink or swim scenario.
I know that I should reserve judgment on this section since I haven't finished the arc yet, but Meurem's birth immediately changed the stakes that the show set up as well and I'm not sure if it's for the better. With him immediately being introduced as an amoral powerhouse who even his own people can't stand, the threat in the arc stopped being about the Hunters trying to take down this unique and interesting environmental hazard that was threatening human life, and it kind of just turned into DBZ with this one overpowered villain who became the big singular threat that needs to be defeated despite it seeming to be impossible. A premise and story structure that felt relatively creative immediately turned into something that had been done countless times before. And I'll give a full disclosure here, I've already been spoiled on the direction where Meurem's character goes. I know that he's set up as a DBZ villain for the express purpose of subverting that in a way that nobody would really expect, and honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing it since I can at least be glad that any complaints that the story is shifting towards the cliché won't turn out to be the case. I have absolutely nothing against his character and I actually think it’s pretty solid with the potential for greatness, my issue here lies more with the lack of proper focus in the story structure and how his presence is something of a symptom of that. The arc as a whole has been giving me a weird impression that the story is often trying to be subversive and deconstructive towards shonen tropes not only very intentionally, but so heavyhanded in its deliberateness that it's often coming directly at the cost of being able to tell a unique story with its own merits.
I trust that the arc as a whole will ultimately be satisfying, but it's easy to see what's constantly being lost in exchange for what is happening. The cutaway to a training arc that ends up leading to failure and disappointment instead of a triumphant payoff is subversive, but it ultimately only kills the pacing of the story and causes the arc to lose all of the tighter focus that made it so interesting in the first place. I know that the arc still has plenty to offer in the story that it wants to tell with things that I haven't even reached yet, but I'm ultimately still fearful that it will continue to make mistakes like these and sacrifice the arc's pacing and quality of storytelling in exchange for just wasting time with setting up more shonen tropes to subvert just for its own sake. I'm sure it'll have its moments, but it's hard for me to have confidence that it'll be an overall satisfying experience from start to finish.

Overall thoughts

This was hyped up as one of the best anime stories ever made by almost everyone I could find who had seen it, and now having made it through the majority of the story myself, I finally feel qualified to weigh in on that with my own judgment. And well, if I had to give my honest assessment, I think it was extremely overhyped and definitely not as good as the popular opinions online seem to indicate. Yeah, for all of the praise I piled onto this story so far and how I still wholeheartedly believe that it's one of the best and most memorable shows I've ever watched, it's far from perfect and has a number of flaws holding it back that I couldn't help but feel like were completely glossed over or outright never came up in hearing all of the glowing praise that everyone else had to offer it.
The biggest shortcoming that I noticed from early on was how weak it was with emotional storytelling. It was so rare for me to watch scenes of this and get a strong reaction, even at its peak. I'd say by far the best we've gotten is Pakunoda's emotional struggle in Phantom Troupe and her eventual sacrifice, which was solid without a doubt, but this and others always felt more like watching events play out as an observer from the outside and the sense of empathy and feeling I was able to have for the characters felt weirdly limited. I think this stems from the story's constant refusal to break the show-don't-tell rule. We're never given detailed tragic backstories or nuanced explanations of the characters' feelings, we're only shown what's happening with them and how they react. In fact, Gyro's backstory felt phenomenally out of place in the show when it came up, as the story had never really just outright told someone's story through narration like that before, and it was able to hit a certain emotional resonance that the rest of the story was never really able to. Other emotional moments, such as Kurapika's inner conflict while fighting Uvogin or Nobunaga's mourning, ended up falling similarly flat from a feelings perspective due to how the story leads you to feel more like an outside observer of things happening rather than really allowing you to live in the characters' heads and empathize with them on a deeper level. I think that this style of storytelling was a very deliberate choice and allowed the story a certain tone that certainly stood out, but it also meant that the story's more emotionally impactful moments didn't feel nearly as memorable as they could have been. I literally just had to do this in order to finish this write-up, but trying to come up with the most memorable emotional moments in the story I could in order to recap felt way more difficult than it should have been, because the story always seemed to focus more on the events that take place than the feelings that result from them.
I also really feel like the story has no idea how to utilize its core characters well. This is something that I couldn't help but feel like I massively took for granted in One Piece, where every character has a strong purpose in every arc and some arcs were even devoted to hammering this point home as strongly as possible that every major character was important and necessary to the group functioning as a whole. Gon and Killua are certainly great as the main duo, but Kurapika feels like he no longer has anything left to live for in terms of life goals after the Phantom Troupe arc wrapped up his character development, and Leorio has just been horribly underutilized overall. The four of them together have a far stronger and more entertaining group dynamic than just Gon and Killua alone, and other characters such as Wing, Hisoka, Bisky, and Kite, while certainly great in their own right, just weren't able to capture that same magic of the original quartet's amazing interactions. With Kurapika having already followed through on most of his apparent life goals so early on and Leorio kind of just doing his own thing, there just hasn't felt like much of a good reason for all of them to travel together and thus two of the best characters for the story just feel like they're never showing up as much as they should. I'm looking forward to the Hunters Election arc for exactly this reason, at least something to make up for it is better than the continued nothing.
Weirdly enough, as much as I like the show, I find it extremely hard to recommend to anyone. It's a pretty stark contrast with how I feel like I can't walk through a lot of corners of the internet without seeing "watch Hunter × Hunter it's so good", but I just honestly have a hard time finding the target audience for this. The story is largely unfocused and each arc feels like its own individual thing rather than a part of a whole, making it often feel more like a collection of several different series rather than one as a whole. There's an extreme tonal inconsistency between the arcs, with the merits and draws of one often being completely dropped in favor of different strengths entirely for another, which allows it a lot of powerful variety in its storytelling, but the fact that it doesn't all feel like one cohesive story means that these differing merits serve more to further separate it into a more disjointed feeling. Even if I feel like someone would love Phantom Troupe, I'd have a hard time telling them that they should sit through all of Hunter Exam and Heaven's Arena just to get to it if those wouldn't really appeal to them, or sitting through a ton of somewhat upbeat straight-played shonen in order to reach the more dark and deconstructive Chimera Ants, or even just starting Hunter Exam but finding the show’s whole appeal there to cut off so early when the rest of the arcs are so different, and et cetera. While the story certainly has plentiful merits as a whole, the lack of a focused identity to really give it a core appeal rather than a bunch of smaller-scale appeals makes it hard to like the show for what it is rather than simply what it has. By comparison, one of my usual go-to anime recommendations for people tends to be Assassination Classroom, as its identity is not only extremely focused and clear, it makes that identity clear from the very first episode and sets its expectations and tone perfectly. Even the long-running One Piece is able to capture more of its overall long-term identity in the first few episodes in a way that would be impossible for Hunter × Hunter to. I feel like the sole target audience I would reasonably say "hey you should watch Hunter × Hunter" to are "people who have heard that they should watch Hunter × Hunter and are curious about it so I would totally reaffirm that recommendation for them", or "shonen fans who have already seen One Piece and ran out of chapters to read there".
For all of my criticisms, they mostly just amount to "I was led to expect this series to be perfect and unfortunately it wasn't", and for the most part, outside of my complaints about deconstruction and trope subversion in Chimera Ants, none of these things have really held back my enjoyment of the show and I still went through it enjoying the whole thing and seeing it as one of my favorite stories of all time. Phantom Troupe was my favorite arc due to the immense quality of its raw story, but Hunter Exam runs a very close second favorite just from how much more memorable and fun its tone was. It's a story with highs and lows, but when those lows are still decently solid content and the highs are some of the best fiction I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing, then it's definitely doing something right.
If you have any further questions on my thoughts regarding the show or its characters, feel free to ask them!

SEASON 2 - EPISODE 8 - Light Rain / Plans of Mice / Are We Expecting Company

The light drizzle was everything to the three inside the car.
“.. The southern tip of the Subreddit has already been doused. Estimates show that the northern half of the Discord Islands could be covered with as much as 20 inches of rain per hour by morning’s end. It is advisable to evacuate if you are regularing a coastal server. Stardis and most of the southern portion of the island are projected to be safer than the rest. Please talk to your server’s moderator to see if you’re on the…” The announcement turned into static before clicking off as Starry turned the knob.
Soon the smothered muffled cursing of Hitmaschine was the only thing these two heard as it drowned out the rain that came down slowly on the windshield.
The realization of what they’ve done finally hit Spovis. He clenched the steering wheel as hard as he had anything before in his life. The stress was eating at his stomach; he hadn’t eaten since they left and he wasn’t even feeling it.
Spovis felt it necessary to voice to his conniption, “I can’t do it, Starry! I thought I could, but I just can’t. We’re fugitives, outlaws, perpetrators. Starry, this is wrong. So wrong. I thought I wanted answers about Rog too, but not this bad.”
She nodded.
He was so soft spoken that this fit seemed mild to Starry. “I thought everything was going to be okay, but this isn’t okay, this isn’t okay at all. Look!” He pointed at Hit who yelled into his gag. “We have a man! Held against his will! He’s a hostage!”
His face fell into his hands. A strong pause came over the three as Hit wiggled on the seat. “He’s our hostage.”
“I know.” She was staring at the sunset. “But- but when you want something so bad...Spovis… when you need something so badly…” Spov looked over to her and her mouth began to twitch. He didn’t quite know what was happening. She was holding her composure, but soon as she watched the sunset the tears came and trickled down her face. She continued to look forward. Spovis stopped dead on his statement and put his hand on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry, I know you need him, but this isn’t the right way. You’ve got me so worried about our safety. Not just mine, but yours. We shouldn’t be doing this. We should just let him go. We’ll be in for some trouble, but I mean… he is one of the lesser mods. We might be able to walk away with a slap on the wrist.”
She still was attempting to hold it together, and the words came out slow and long, but with a slight tremble. “I know this isn’t right, but it’s the only way we have for now. One of these mods have to know… I feel it. The Meta is telling me. It’s been saying to do this since I heard the news. The news- the news of his disappearance. One of them have to know!” Surprising both Spov and Hit, she slammed her fist against her own knees.
And so stood her adamant disposition.
And so stood the two at the foot of Stardis. One held his wrist towards himself. Flashing red, he watched the hologram beeping under his arm, saw the open field, and saw the car. The other held her massive mallet on her shoulder, which was nearly the size of her entire body and embroidered with pink hearts. She smiled while he smirked ever so slightly.
“This is where his tracker says, Ky.” He looked on at the open field. The small car in the middle of the mud and rain. His name was Nos and he was a user that had no time for this. He seemed tired and she seemed in much too good of a mood out in the rain.
She curled her lips in anticipation to say this, “Hey, Nos… Nos....”
“Yes?”
“What’s does the scouter say about…” He looked down at her.
“Kyli, please.” He flipped a lens that came down over his eye. It started reading many numbers. One being the combat strength of the unverified users in the car. He sighed, “The reader is saying that one of the users is over a eleven-thousand karma threshold.”
“And what does that mean?”
“It’s over nine-thousand…” She bounced on her toes and clapped lightly and fast. Nosferatus looked utterly defeated and more than a little irritated.
“Good! Okay, let’s get their attention.” Kyli nearly crossed the threshold of Stardis before Nos grabbed her shoulder. He pointed at the flooded line in the dirt, the same line that had been Hit’s downfall.
“Wait. Ky, look.” He said, still looking as if more tired than pleased. “Lookin’ like that would be the border. You know your mallet will gain all its mass once you cross-” Before he was done with his statement, Kyli crossed the line. She grit her teeth and Nos could see the hilt of the mallet dig into her shoulder. She nearly lost balance because the ground underneath was caving from the weight of the weapon. She regained herself, bouncing up and down a small bit to test her acclimation. “-the line…”
Surprised, he joined her. Being that it had been a long time since he had left the city, he nearly forgot what it felt like to lose mod privileges due to proxy.
Nos’ large dark trench coat hid the pistols he was concealing. He reached for one. Pulled it from his holster and fired into the air. He reached for the second, now having both aimed and readied at the car.
“It’s for me, Spovis.”
From the passenger side of the car a smaller young lady walked forth in her Starconian leather amor. Nos could tell it was foreign and old. Kyli didn’t bother much with humoring her history.
“User…” He held the hologram in front of Starry. “User-Starco151, we have reason to believe you have one of our mods held under your captivity with a one, Starfan5-” He was cut short by Kyli who yelled over him.
“Yeah, that’s why we’re here to kick your ass!” Nos turned questionably towards the woman next to him. She smiled and closed her eyes towards the other Mod.
“Cheeky. Kyli, shh, you’re too adorable to be intimidating.” Starry looked at them both with somber eyes and a guitless face.
She addressed both at the same time, “Mods of Stardis, I have reason to believe you have done the same to someone I care deeply about. I will keep doing what I’m doing until I have RogueryNight back!” Both mods looked at one another in a flurry of confusion.
“Is she delusional?”
“She isn’t just delusional, she clearly has no idea what she’s talking about. I say we just go for it and take back Hit.This is a kidnapping, Nos,” She spoke quietly to Nosferatuss.
“That sounds like the plan. We don’t need much of a jury for this.” The rain was still lightly pouring and the sun was turning the sky a gorgeous shade of purple over Kyli’s pink light armor.
“What happens outside Stardis, stays outside Stardis.” Finally, Nos smiled.
Nos fired his weapon hoping to simply incapacitate the young maiden.
The bullet sank into Starry’s leg and the exit wound immediately began to bleed. Her legs buckled as she looked down at the wound. Her anger that fueled her could almost be felt; it accelerated the healing process along with the already quick healing properties of the Discordian islands.
Before Nosferatuss could pull down the trigger again Starry was already at them. She didn’t teleport, she was just unrealistically fast. He managed to fire one more bullet and before the spring could hit the primer, she had already used her arm to knock the gun to the side.
Kyli readied her massive hammer, but before she could swing, Starry grabbed each gun with her hands. She pushed each tabs at the same time with her thumbs and pointer and pulled the slides. The pistols immediately disassembled, rendering them useless.
The massive maul came towards Starry’s head from above. Dodging backwards, she managed to avoid the onslaught. A massive splash came from the puddle Kyli made contact with.
All three were doused in mud and grime. Using the sledge’s head as a pivot, she sprang forth, and like a child on a marry-go-round, using the hilt to keep momentum, she lurched the hammer once more.
The dagger-wielding woman had no time as the head of the massive mallet came from atop. Nos used this time to unsheath his short sword, knowing that his pistols were now void of use.
Kyli’s hammer nearly hit Starry, but she had no time to think because, using her momentum again, Kyli flipped over the hammer, using the long hilt as a pole vault. She held on and once again used her own weight to fling the sledge towards Starry.
Starry slipped. Rolling backwards and springing herself to her feet, the maul came down in front of her, showering her entire body with mud.
Starry was given no time to wipe the mud away before Nos used the hammer’s head as a vault. He struck the maiden deep in the chest with a powerful kick, and upon landing, he slashed with his sword. The sword only cut her armor before she was able to lunge backwards.
Nos bent down as Kyli came running from his rear jumping over him. Mid-jump she wound back the hammer. Starry leaped and rolled away from the woman, but Nos had preemptively coordinated his movements.
He was standing where she got up from her roll. His sword was already in a swinging motion at her head.
She ducked backwards but fell in the mud. She looked up and Ky’s hammerhead was coming down on top of her. It nearly destroyed the young maiden.
The splash from the hammer was a convenient distraction.
She buried herself under the mud and held her breath. Nos felt the absence and flipped his device in front of his face.
He peered into the puddles of mud on the floor and signaled Kyli, who nodded in return. He held out three fingers and started counting down.
Nos grabbed hold of Kyli’s hammer. She began to spin extended outwards and flung him into the air directly atop of where the reader said Starry was. He dove down, held his sword and stabbed into the mud. The only thing he stabbed was her Discordian identification card.
Starry jumped from her position, just feet away from Nos. In the air she spun and delivered a kick that sent the mod backwards, tumbling from his own weight. Kyli caught him and pushed him towards the young woman in her muddied armor. They clashed with his sword and Starry’s dagger.
Throwing her second dagger as far in the air as possible, she retaliated. Starry feigned a stab which Nos attempted to parry, but was caught off guard. She retracted and threw the dagger into his leg.
His leg gave way to his weight, she used his knee in a similar fashion as he and vaulted over him, towards Kyli. She caught the dagger from mid air, but didn't manage to see the mallet that was upon her now.
The mallet swung upwards, scraping the ground, it hooked our young hero as she was being forced towards the ground.
The mud took most of the impact, but little did Kyli know that she had maneuvered her legs to catch the hammerhead. Spovis didn’t know as he watched himself, but she actually shattered her femur in the process.
She lay there, under the mallet, dug into the mud, and Kyli thought the battle may have been over. Nosferatuss was still on his knees attempting to get up.
Starry yelled into the battle as she pushed with all her force against the maul. It was a kick powerful enough to throw Kyli off balance. She attempted to hold the hilt against the force, but in doing so, created a pendulum that fell on the head of Nos. He was out, face in the mud, but still breathing.
“Oh my, Nos! I'm sorry!” Bubbles from the mud were the only thing that were seen. Starry grabbed the back of his collar and pulled his face from the water soaked ground. If not for the battle Starry would have thought that face hilarious. If not for Starry, Nos would also have drowned in four inches of mud.
The both stared each other down. Kyli, looked at the unconscious body of her partner.
“Hey!” She yelled, “You're pretty good.” She giggled as the rain came pelting down.
Ky pressed a button on her hammer. The hammer began to disassemble. The hilt disconnected from the head and flattened out, this became a shield. The head of the maul began to fold in on itself and formed a much smaller mallet. “But from one artist to another, dear, we have a lot of catching up to do.” The magic of the shield propelled a gale at Starry. Like a frisbee, it sliced through the air.
At the last moment, Starry dove into the mud. She watched as the shield was magically brought back to Kyli’s arm.
“SPOVIS, THE ROPE!” Spovis hung his head out the window and saw Starry getting attacked ferociously by the short woman wielding the hammer. Kyli took her shield and quickly slashed where Starry stood. She kicked the shield up and at the same time laid down flat on the ground.
“What?!” He yelled.
She looked at him with deviated eyes.
“THE. ROPE!” She demanded as Ky threw the mallet, which dug into the earth where she once was.
She had backhandsprung from her lying position, and got up in time to give a few ungodly kicks that simply made contact with the large shield. Each kick slid Kyli back a few inches.
Spovis exited the vehicle, slipping and floundering. He grabbed the rope and attempted to throw it. The throw was equivalent to the same amount of force the wind could have provided. “Oh, darn it!”
“Hurry!” She yelled as she took the mallet directly to the solar plexus. A gutteral noise was given as the wind was knocked out of her. She jumped back again, nearly out of wits and energy to keep going. The gnawing pain in her leg was beginning to affect her stance.
Spovis picked the rope up and began to run and slide towards the young woman. “Spovis, no! Too close!” She yelled, still attempting to gain her breath while still dodging Kyli’s elegant onslaught. He ran with the bundle.
Kyli threw her hammer; it hit Spov in the head, and he was deemed unconscious by the narrative.
Starry and Kyli both ran towards the body of Spov. Starry picked up the rope, while Kyli cartwheeled over his body and grabbed her hammer.
Starry began dodging another flurry of potential blows, but instead of returning she was fastening a few knots in the rope.
Starry quickly bundled it between her arm and her hand. She ran up the chest of her attacker and kicked off, creating distance. Keeping her momentum, she backflipped a few more times and a few meters were between her and the mod.
Kyli wound her body, spun, and let her shield go once more. Starry watched as the shield soared towards her.
She threw the lasso she had fashioned. The shield flew perfectly through the loop, Starry dodged, and pulled tightly.
Her body swung around as she held the rope, the shield attempting each spin to reorient itself to its owner. Kyli looked on in awe as Starry slowly helicoptered her way towards her. Kyli held her guard, but it was no use.
Thump
The shield smacked Kyli on the front of her face. All people involved were unconscious excluding Starry, who laid there in the mud, soaking in the filth of victory.

Spovis eventually came to. He felt the warmth of the car, he felt his head pounding, he felt the ropes itching at his arms.
He was bound. He looked back and saw the three mods bound and gagged in the same style. He was sitting upright in the passenger’s seat.
“Starry!” He yelled, “Why’d you tie me up!?” He questioned the beaten and battered woman in the driver’s seat.
She smiled behind a bleeding lip, “Old habit,” she stated while she cut the ropes with her dagger.
“Been twenty-four hours and counting, Cerb. Wasted a day, wasting away. Wasting our time, buddy.” He pointed to a nonexistent watch. was in the homely cottage of Cerberus. He stared at the young lady sitting on the ottoman, staring at the cold wall. Cerb had just returned from another scouting party while the two had waited for his return.
“Like I said, you guys ain’t going nowhere unverified and certainly not in those drags. I can spot the foreign in you three miles away and if the Mods don’t get you, Cobalt will.” He put down his coffee and brought it slowly to the table. “You don’t know who to trust.” He held out his finger. “You don’t know where to go.” He held out another finger towards Jeep. “You don’t know the hoops both of you need to jump through just to walk in the city. You know how long it takes to get a tailor in this city to make anything on request?” He held out his last finger.
The room fell into hush as Cerb dropped off several things into a few different drawers of his desk. “Just sit tight and relax.”
“I’ve been relaxing for the past forty years, Cerb.” The blindfolded woman began to look as if she were getting up, but remained seated.
Jeep puffed away on his newly acquired cigar, “All due respect, bud, but we don’t even know if we can trust you.” Cerberus looked at Coraline, who somehow knew to look back. It sent shivers down his back. “You gave us a shelter, and for that, we’re thankful, but how do I know that you are willing to get her back to her proper place?”
“Guys, I'm right here, you know?” She nearly whispered.
Cerberus went to his weapons safe, spun the tumbler a few times, and opened it to reveal a small cache of firearms. Some old, some from the present. He reached and grabbed the barrel of short revolver. He took and handed it to Jeep handle first. “You know how to use one of these?”
Jeep laughed. “Boy,” he looked at the grip and took a small latch that was hidden under the cover of the handle. He began to unscrew the latch, and soon enough he had a micro screwdriver. He shoved the tiny screwdriver into a small, inconspicuous hole on the end of the handle. It opened a hollowed stash in the grip. It seemed to be about three bullets made specifically for this model. Cerberus watched him inquizically while he tinkered.
... “I made this gun.”
Cerberus was left speechless. Coraline knew Jeep’s history with gunsmithing, but didn't quite know his extent, What were the chances? She thought.
He went back to his gun case and pulled out a scroll. He walked back to the coffee table where Jeep was sitting, laid out a scroll and revealed a map as old as users past. Jeep noticed a scroll across the top of the map that read: Beware the Wolves, the Troll, the Colossus, and the Stars. Cerberus didn't seem interested in the slightest about the text, but Jeep knew he heard something along those lines many years ago.
And like an echo in the dark, it rang for no one but itself..
Jeep leaned over the map such as Cerberus was doing and saw many different alleyways and building and section strewn across. It was a town. “What's this about, bud?” Asked the Merchant-King.
Without need for physical interpretation, Coraline managed to make an educated guess to what was on the map. “It's the old city, Jeep, the one Stardis was built atop of, lost and forgotten.”
Jeep looked on at the man who had passion in his eyes, “Why are y'all trying? Cerb, no offense, but you're not a mod,” he flicked the ashes from his cherry, “What is your goal with this “resistance”? It's not like you have any power over the ones in control.” He was flat with his words, honest, but genuinely curious.
He looked there at the ancient map, in his pensive way and was lost in thought, “Resistances are called that not because they expect to win, but because they struggle to survive for a cause. To be honest, resistances are made to be buried in history.” All three remained silent after the melancholy statement. Jeep remained satisfied with the answer.
"Okay, Cerberus, I get it, you give us this gun and think we're gonna just pave over this little tension, but tell me, what kind of motive would you have that involves getting her back to the sub?" JeepDave crossed his legs in anticipation of his answer.
He scoured his mind for a competent answer and finally it came, "The sooner we get her back to the Sub, the faster we can open immigration again to the island. No immigrants, no potential growth for our cause..."
The room was left to ponder and finally Dave considered this notion. "Alright, then. That's the only thing I needed to know. The world flows on ulterior motives, Cerb, ulterior motives and misunderstandings. We're just riding along in a sea of moving plans..." he looked at his cigar and then at the lovely woman who was still looking at the wall, "now, this gun. This gun ain't edible, so maybe I can talk you into rounding up some food for the nice lady over there. She hasn't eaten since we've got here."
Coraline blindly looked into the general direction of the two, "To be fair, Jeep, you haven't either..."
Jeep wasn't a man to get embarrassed or be bashful for any reason, but here he was, caught in his own words, "eh, call it some white-knight bullshit, dear; I got a lot to spare..." he grabbed the fat on his stomach.
He looked at the two and realized how depraved and emaciated they actually looked. Both were covered in a layer of grime, suit, dirt, and a dusting of sand. “I’ll, erm, fetch both of you something. Don’t worry, but first, let me tell you the plan.”
“Fair enough; let’s hear it, bud.” Jeep was ready to negotiate the steps taken to keep Coraline safe.
“All ears,” added the mod.
“Well, first off, we gotta get you outta those clothes.”
“You what?” She responded.
Jeep chuckled a little, but went back to the business at hand. “Okay, I get it, but why? Can’t we just transverse the undercity?”
“You could… or we could get you verified. Soon as we get you get you looking like one of us, we’ll smuggle you out of the city and then we get you verified at the gates the old fashion way.”
“Why not just smuggle us out of the city and then off the island? Why so many hoops?” Cerb looked on at the merchant with offense.
“You don’t understand… Oddy controls the highways. He knows about everything that comes in and out of this city.” He went to his cupboards and pulled out a few different pastas. “You know how long it’ll take me to get a convoy set up to Piapolis? You guys are gonna need to be able to walk the streets.”
“Oddy? Let me talk to him. I’ll get us a boat from him immediately.” Coraline sounded eager for the first time.
“Once again, it isn’t that easy. Over the last hundred years or so, there been a slew of Coraline impersonators doing just what you want to set out to do: get back to the sub.” He put a pot on the stove that was high with water. “We gotta get you guys new clothes, make you look like the locals, smuggle you out and get you verified at the door. Just like everyone else. That’s the only way we’re going to be able to make this happen.”
Coraline got up and began feeling her way around the room. She stood aside the chair of Dave as he smoked. “If that’s the only way, I’m in your hands. We must make this expedition precise.”
Cerb poured the pasta into the boiling water, “Of course, Cora, I’ll do my best. Lyca will have your new wears ready soon.”
“It’s hot today, it’s hot yesterday, gonna be hot tomorrow,” said Solace, looking down the scope of his rifle. It hung off the stone that the barrel was wedged between. Even though they were shaded under the canopy, camouflaged into the rock wall, it was still scorching.
“Says there’s gonna be a storm tomorrow.” The man named Leaves put his gully hat over his eyes while he was meant to be off duty, sleeping, cycling off-shift for the rest of the evening.
“Solace, you volunteered to be here. No complaining.” This one was likewise all in camo, but had a few different buttons and medals to show her higher rank among the other trained operatives.
“Lopp, the pay was good, and also, I get to hang out with you.” Solace gave a stupidly wide smile that was returned coldly by the young lady. “...right.” His face dropped. “I was just kidding around.”
“Jokes are illegal. Don’t get banned, Solace.” Leaves spoke again from under his hat.
The wind picked up and nearly blew the hat right off his face. Getting up he made sure they knew where he’d be, “Hittin’ it in the bunks, ya’ll,” as he made his for the tents that were procured just off from the small encampment they were looking out from.
“Man, it’s been dead lately. The streets are quiet, the highways are quiet; hell, this whole damn city’s on lockdown. And why couldn’t I have gone with Prism to get some food?”
Loppi put down her binoculars and turned to the young man hanging half off his seat, staring at the woman taking her job a bit too seriously. “Because he isn’t just getting food, he’s doing a small recon. Heard what happened?”
Solace looked longingly at the stretch of highway down below. “Right, but a possible SxT shouldn’t be doing no kind of damage like this. Something else is going on. There’s no need for this added security. This needless… security.” He squinted to the horizon and a small dot caught his attention.
“We do what we must, because we can, not because of some dank-ass payments, Sol,” She said, poking fun at the memey ways of the man.
“I’m starting to think Geech and Oddy don’t have this whole thing under control. I don’t think any of us got it down, to be honest. What am I even doing here?” He yelled into the rocks of this cliffside vantage. Finally, he looked through his scope and back at the horizon. “Uh, Lopp.”
“Yes?” ILoppio answered. Taking a swig from the cantine.
“We got company.”
The tent unzipped and came running Leaves. He grabbed his rifle and peered down the scope along with Solace, as did the young Loppi into her binoculars.
“West by southwest. Approximately eighty kilometers per hour. Closing. Twenty kilometers.,” said Leaves dynamically.
“Wind, five kilometers, eastbound. Targets acquired. Eight riders, two wheelers.” Solace called back to Leaves, having now exchanged his temper and insight for his training.
“This is I.L, calling O.D. Copy. Eight potentials. Are we expecting company? Answer. Over.” She chimed over the radio. There was no answer. The radio remained dead for quite some time while the two looked on.
“Ten kilometers, closing,” Leaves chanted again.
Loppio held the radio again and again she attempted to get ahold of anyone on the other line that could signify a pass.
“This is iLoppio. We have eight targets. As ordered, we will open fire. We need clearance. Anyone, copy. Repeat, eight two wheelers. Representation unknown. Is the city expecting a visit? Over.” The radio went from static to silent again while she looked down the cliff.
“Eight kilometers.”
She set down her binoculars and exchanged it for a single magnification scope that she changed the setting. It identified the users.
“Six kilometers. Lop, are we opening fire?!” Shouted Solace. “Who is it?! Who’s out there?”
Her face was in panic as she held the specialized scope. “Brum. Aland. Johnna. Kirby. Those are all the readers are picking up.” Solace’s hands began to shake.
Leaves was set on the task at hand, but his hands were shaking all the same, “3 kilometers. Shot is possible, but not optimal. Do we open fire?!”
A small shuffle came from the radio and Loppi attempted to tune the channel. “Repeat! What was that!? Stand down or open fire?!”
“One point five kilometers. Shot’s optimal. Conditions optimal. What is your order, Loppi?!” Shouted Leaves into the canyon. The roar of the motorcycles could be heard and felt at this point.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake, Lop!”
“Stand down.” Came from the other end of the radio as the entire team lowered their weapons. Leaves fell back into his chair and sighed up into the sky.
“God damn it!” Solace threw his rifle into the rockface. He took a seat next Leaves and buried his hands in his face. “Nope. I can’t. I can’t do this. Those are people I’ve… We’ve known for ages... We can’t do this…”
Loppi looked at the radio, and back at her hands that were still shaking. She had clenched the radio so hard that the page button was broken. Thank Daron there were spares.
“...I sure do hope you guys know what you’re doing.” She said as she laid against the floor.
It was a cold, icy day in the city of Tomar. All dressed in black, with their faces covered, six ninja-looking folks ate in front of PrinnyBaal’s Burger Shack and Shake.
“So… tell me why again we’re meeting in broad daylight, in the middle of Tomar?” MaxWyght spoke over his food, upset at whoever truly made these plans. “Rocky, was that you, perchance?”
RockyLada was busy stuffing her face too much to really care for her idled comrades. With a mouth half full she rebutted, “No. I got the call from HarsH_DA_TrolL.” She put down her burger, wiped her mouth with a fistful of napkins, and put her mouthguard back up.
“Yeah, and I called him.. SomeGuy, who’d you get a call from?”
"I just showed up, my shippah." As he said this, the umbrella collapsed and fell through a body from the roof of the establishment. The umbrella closed in on the five unsuspecting members and it quickly became a vice for ten wiggling legs. The body of whoever fell quickly got up and began walking back and forth.
“Now see, this is why you all are so low on the totem poles,” UknoIhadtodoitto began, attempting to distract the users from his blunder, “I could easily kill all of you right now and thus, If I could kill you, one of the stronger warriors of the Metascape could easily make do with you all.”
“Ukno!” Max yelled, his face squeezed up against MrCheesesCousin’s face. “If you don’t release us, I’ll kill you myself.”
“Aw, see but that’s the strength of the Assassin’s Guild. Our numbers. If I killed you all, we’d be down six very strong individuals.”
“I’d really much like to not be squished against SomeGuy, thank you. Can you release us? Please?” RockyLada came from under the umbrella.
“Hey! Anyone would love to be smashed against me!” Someguy yelled into the material his mouth was pressed against, which happened to be Rocky’s buttocks.
Uknow clicked the mechanism on the outside of the contraption and no time, with a fwoomp, it expanded, freeing all of his associates. “The real reason I’ve gathered you here today is because we need to set who oversees what shipping kingdom.”
“Shouldn’t we be discussing this private matter in a place that’s a little more… private?” Rockylada held up her hand as if she were in class.
“We’re in front of a burger shack. This is ridiculous,” MrCheese said, weary of his new position.
“No, don’t you see? Why would seven assassins be eating in front of a burger place in the middle of the day? They could be talking about anything, why would they be talking about something of importance?” Uknow answered with a question.
“I CALL STARCO!” Yelled Someguy.
Ukno pointed quickly as he jauntily walked, “Already taken! Next!”
“KELLCO!” Someguy countered.
“You against Nerdman? That’s laughable.”
“MARKAPOO!” He yelled again in the same fashion.
“If you can find them, you can have them,” Uknow came back.
Slowly a user from the rear who had been leaning against the wall spoke willingly. “I’ll take Statera.” He raised his hand a bit.
“Yes! That’s what I’m talking about… Who are you?” Uknow rubbed his chin.
“MrAdazahi, West Statera division. I know the city. I’ll take it and oversee it as the Assassin’s Guild sees fit.”
“I guess I’ll take Stomco. The walls aren’t fully erected yet, but I’ll get that on top of the list of many things to do.” Max held his arm up leaning it on the table, head down.
“Heh, erected. Perfect. Cheese, you want… Cheese stop that, what are you doing?!” MrCheese was spray painting a massive A and G against the side of the building.
“Leaving our signature,” He continued to do so.
“Okay, you’ve just earned yourself Tomkie overseer.” MrCheese stopped immediately and sighed his head to the ground in his punishment.
“Ahh, so boring. You know nothing’s going on over there.”
“That’s the point. Nice and safe where I know where you are. Okay, Rocky, you and Someguy will take Tomar. You guys will find HQ here is quite accommodating. Okay, and that adjourns our fabulous assassins’ meeting. Break!”
A female user rounded the corner of the block to see seven masked users all in black with their mouths covered and shrieked at the top her lungs. She dropped her groceries and ran away.
“Oh, come on! We’re not that intimidating!” Ukno yelled to her as her back was turned running desperately away from the figures, “We’re just your everyday normal assassins!” Ukno put his hand in to the middle of the group and most were reluctant to follow. “Assassin’s Guild on three. One. Two. Three.”
They all yelled Assassin’s Guild and jumped away from the scene.
Listening, using a large radar dish, overhearing the seven in black, were two others with their own plans.
“That was the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen,” Terepin said as he laid against the edge of the building.
“I can’t disagree with you,” 650_Dollars whispered back. “However, this doesn’t really change much.” They both flipped their bodies to be seated against the veranda.
No, this doesn’t change a damn thing.” Terepin reaffirmed.

2018.09.15 04:48 rvw1973 I used one of those Pro-Life clinics to plan my abortion

The TL;DR summary is in the title.
I have always been pro-choice, but a part of me was always privately judgmental of women who had abortions (outside rape/incest). I thought to myself: how hard is it to use a condom? How hard is it to get birth control? Well, I ended up being served a slice of humble pie after a guy I briefly dated finished inside me when the condom came off. He had problems keeping an erection anytime a condom came into the picture, hence the briefness of the relationship. Ladies, do yourselves a favor and get rid of guys who can’t keep a boner with a condom, unless you want to wait around for them to get treated for their erectile dysfunction. I asked ED guy if he was sure the condom stayed on him when he withdrew, and he assured me that it had. Ladies, tip #2, anytime a guy says this, assume he is lying and go get Plan B. It is available over the counter (without prescription) at any drug store and is something like $30. WAYYYYY cheaper and less dramatic than the whole abortion ordeal, so please just do it if you have the slightest doubt. I actually went and got a couple Plan B pills after my first positive pregnancy test, hoping it would work since I was only a couple days late. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. Turns out even the tiniest, not even heartbeat having embryos are super hard to get rid of. I tried pure ascorbic acid megadosing, very rigorous workouts, online shit that was borderline witchcraft, and nothing worked. It made me have a bit of appreciation for humans as a species. I was getting beat up, taking so much ascorbic acid I think I poisoned myself, barely eating and this thing would not give up. Give credit where credit is due.
I was really in denial about it, because I had always been so careful and NEVER had a positive pregnancy test in my life. Aside from the denial, there was anger. I was angry that when I called an abortion clinic, I had to be told that there would be protesters there and how I shouldn’t react to them. It made me really re-think the whole pro-life vs. pro-choice debate. I don’t call pro-life people that anymore, I refer to all of them as pro-birth. Protesters seem to have all the time in the world to harass women going into a clinic (who are more likely there for a check up or birth control), but are never seen volunteering at a foster clinic, or neonatal unit to help comfort critical babies born to drug addicted mothers. The “pro-life” movement is just a flimsy mask over the real intention of imposing irrational religious beliefs onto rational people and controlling women’s bodies. I told myself I wouldn't rant...
Like any responsible adult, (suddenly deciding to be responsible after being incredibly irresponsible) I called up many of the clinics in my state. Only a handful of them performed the procedure. The closest one to me only had available appointments over a month later, and I wasn’t trying to carry this thing around for the first damn term. I called another one many hours away, but with earlier availability. If I were impoverished, this would have definitely been a hurdle and is a problem for countless women in this supposed first world country. Luckily, I had reliable transportation. One issue with making this appointment that annoyed me was the restrictions on being able to get a pill-induced abortion. You have to time it perfectly to get one. Too early in the pregnancy, and you pay a hefty visit fee only to be told to come back again later to pay the full fee once again. Too late, and now your easy at-home pill procedure became a surgical abortion.
I am not impoverished, but I sure as hell ain’t rich either. The driving and visit fee would have been quite a hindrance for me if I went too early, but I didn’t want to wait around as this unwanted thing grew inside me either. My solution was to use one of the countless pro-life “clinics” (they’re not actually licensed medical clinics) with lovely names such as “Alternatives”, “Life’s Options”, or “Choices”, despite the only choice being give birth to the baby. Oh wait, you can choose to put your body through pregnancy just to put it up for adoption, or you raise your unwanted infant. Stellar choices…
If you don’t know what a pregnancy center is, please take a moment to watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NNpkv3Us1I
I went there and I could see they had rebranded somewhat, because the Jesus stuff seemed not as in your face. Subtle Jesus. I won’t lie, the staff there were all very pleasant. However, they did pull tricks like giving me a bunch of baby items and doing an ultrasound with BABY written all over it. Donated the baby stuff, trashed the BABY ultrasounds. I had my tonsils removed, didn’t cry over those medical images either. Tonsils! Oh Tonsils, what could have been had I kept you?? Chronic laryngitis, that’s what. Come to think of it, excised tonsils and embryos look super similar. Hm. Anyway, I had the ultrasound performed that could detect the embryo, and that gave me the green light to go to the ACTUAL choice clinic to get the chemical/pill abortion. I left the fraud clinic with my armful of baby nonsense yeah yeah yeah great motherhood yes, see ya later (in Borat voice) NOTTTT!
At the actual choice clinic, I was yet again Muppetized with the ultrasound wand to confirm what fraud clinic had. They asked me no less than 8,000 times if I was sure about my decision, which is a good thing because I think most women traumatized by abortion are ones who did it under duress. I was given the first dose of mifepristone, then given misoprostol to take at home. The first one makes life inhospitable for the embryo and therefore kills it, then the second one induces cramping to “deliver” the blood clots. So don’t worry, you are not cramping out a living embryo. Fun fact: misoprostol is an ulcer medication for dogs. Not fun fact: You can’t order the dog drugs online without a vet. I tried… for a uh, dog friend…
I won’t lie, when the cramping peaked it was pretty intense. However, putting it into perspective, pregnancy and childbirth would be way more intense. After about 20 minutes of cramping, I went to the bathroom with a sudden having your period like sensation. I successfully delivered 3 large blood clots, and unintentionally peed on them a little. Beforehand, I was all romantic, thinking I’d give a little burial for my fightin’ fetus. The amorous feelings left me as I thought of digging through my toilet after slimy grape lookin’ things, so my blood clots had a Viking water funeral. To Valhalla where you will be met by brave warriors, and at least a dozen of my childhood goldfish!
I was up and back to normal activity the next day. The pain I’d had the day before was nothing a few Ibuprofen and a heat pad couldn’t handle. I can’t say the experience was traumatizing or made me re-evaluate life, what life mean, etc. Some information I found interesting was that up to half of all, ALL pregnancies end in miscarriage, and most women don’t even know it because they may have miscarried before their missed period. Up to 25% of known early pregnancies end in miscarriage, and more than 80% of miscarriages occur in the first 3 months of pregnancy (March of Dimes study). I view my abortion as something I helped along that could have easily happened on it’s own. Women who have miscarriages shouldn’t be demonized, and neither should I.
In conclusion, if ALL (I guess we’re counting embryos) human life is dignified and has inherent rights, doesn’t that life have the right to a dignified end? Would pro-birthers be protesting with signs on the lawn of a man dying of terminal cancer in the state of Oregon, where he has the right to end his life with a doctor’s prescription?
An infant born to religious fanatic family, in denial throughout the entire pregnancy, birthed in the bathroom and put upside-down in a small bathroom trash bin to suffocate amongst the garbage… that is not dignified. This really happened.
An infant born to a teenage mother, just to be thrown only moments after birth from an 8th floor window to smash onto the street, so her parents wouldn’t find out she was pregnant… that is not dignified. This really happened, and she only got probation and a small fine for it.
Me overdosing on ascorbic acid and slamming doorknobs into my lower belly… that is not dignified for myself or the embryo. What IS dignified, is letting individuals choose what they want for themselves, and not forcing your ideals onto strangers to make yourself feel important.

# BRUSHES/TOOLS:

All brushes are clean, but to be safe from allergens in the brush cleanser I use, you might want to cleanse them again in whatever you know works for you.

  • Tweezerman ProCurl Lash Curler, 1 Still available, both are very gently used and include two fresh unused pads, Final reduction to $13 shipped each
Retails for $22.00 at Sephora, neither has been used hardly at all, due to not fitting my eye shape and switched to the ProMaster. This is a FANTASTIC curler, I just needed the other one due to my eye shape. One was for my travel bag, the other for home. I kept one in my desk drawer and travel bag after I ordered the replacements just to feel like I was using something I owned, but having like 5 lash curlers is ridiculousness.

  • Real Techniques Sculpting Brush, 2 Available, Used 3 times each, if that, $4 each, $7 for both
Sells on Ulta.com for $9.99. I don’t really do a lot of contouring and I can’t find a use for them otherwise.

  • Real Techniques Bold Metals Tapered Blush Brush, Used maybe 5 times, $12
Sells on Ulta.com for $18.99. I haven’t used it hardly at all since I got it, in part because I probably have like 15 blush brushes, and I don’t need anywhere near that many!

# MAKEUP:

# FACE

I had a friend flying in from Canada for the weekend for a wedding who didn’t think she would have time to do fun things or shop, so I ordered a bunch of stuff in for her to take home with her. These just arrived 2 weeks ago, they’re fresh. It worked out that we could shop and have some fun times, and she tested MY open tubes at home before we went, and we determined she needed darkecooler shades than this. I know this is tough to get outside of the states, so I wanted to list it before I return it. Please note shipping costs above for international shipping before you claim them--it starts at $9.50, which I believe allows up to 6 or 8oz. I don’t make the rates, I can’t change them and I can’t make any “shipping deals.”
I apologize for the godawful lighting in these, my bedroom has shit lighting and my husband makes our house a crypt since he works a lot of overnights and sleeps a lot during the day.
  • Tarte ShapeTape Concealer in FAIR, 1 sold, 1 still available, BNIB, $24
NEVER OPENED, NEVER UNSCREWED THE CAP, NEVER USED. These were just delivered to me about 2 weeks ago.

  • Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation in 1.1 Fair, about 2/3-3/4 remaining. Final reduction to $16 shipped
I really like this stuff, but the shade is not right for me, so I found one that works a bit better for me. Hopefully someone can benefit from that since I am too late to return (bought this in early Feb.) and I didn't use too much of it.

  • Physicians Formula Butter Blush in Natural Glow, $5
Used probably 3 times, really pretty as a peachy highlight, a less intense but longer lasting “dupe” of the Too Faced Love Light one that was a total disappointment.

  • NYX HD Blush in Taupe, Used 2x, $4
Used 2x, can’t even tell it’s been used. It’s a little too dark and warm for me as a contour, and I just do not take the time to contour all that often.
**Verification: https://imgur.com/XjbUWZy https://imgur.com/oteeIkR

  • Sleek MakeUP Blush in Pomegranate, Used 1x, $6
Used once, maybe twice? And you cannot even tell it’s been used. These blushes are FREAKING AMAZING. And this shade is SO PRETTY, and I really appreciate my friend in the UK getting this baby for me, but it’s a wee bit too dark and a little too cool/purpley on me (I resembled LeeAnne from RHOD at MadHatter and it was not good!), so I am hoping someone in the US where we don’t have easy access to this brand with slightly darker skin might want to try it out. (I am NC10-15 range, so I’d say NC/NW25 is a good starting point for this, just FYI.)

  • Sleek MakeUP Blush in Pixie Pink, Used 2-3x, $7
Used maybe 3 times? Can’t really tell I’ve used it because you barely need to touch it (let’s say I learned that one the hard way and looked like a crazy person all day!) These blushes are FREAKING AMAZING. I really appreciate my friend in the UK getting this baby for me, but it’s a wee bit too pink for me, so I am hoping someone in the US where we don’t have easy access to this brand with slightly darker skin might want to try it out.

  • Tarte Highlighter in Stunner DS, never opened or used. $5
I’ve got this in a FS and a mini, so I don’t need another. When I was trying to catch the little plastic protector thing my (clean) finger brushed the edge, but I’ve never swatched or used it. I did sterilize it again just to be safe.

  • Lorac Light Source Highlighter in Moonlight, used around 10-15 times, $15
Really pretty, very similar, I think, to the Celestial from CoverFX but in powder form. I just have amassed a ton of highlighters and I am never going to use all of these, so I am going to just keep the couple that I regularly reach for.

I ordered a few of these to try them out and while I dig most of the darker ones I got, I am not a fan of the lighter shades. I know some of these are favorites, so I would rather they go to someone that will use them.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara, FS BNIB, never opened or used, still sealed shut (as in, never unscrewed), final reduction to $23 shipped
Retails for $32, I counted the mascaras in my drawer and I have 16 unopened mascaras. I have one of these open, and this one is one I like, I don't love, so I can part with it (I prefer waterproof.) It's a bigger hassle to return it than I prefer to deal with. I don’t have issues with this transferring or smudging, though I know others have said they do. But I also have always worn it over a waterproof base, so maybe that’s why.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Color Chameleon Color Morphing Eyeshadow Pencil in Amethyst Aphrodisiac, FS, used probably 8 times, sharpened 4 times, final reduction to $15 shipped
Retails for $27, I love this shade--it has microglitter but it does NOT fallout and does not cause issues or look gauche, the shade itself is intense, and the microglitter is minimal, this is actually a fantastic purple pencil and stays put! I have not been using these pencils or any of my fat pencils as often as skinnier ones of late, so it’s just sitting. I have another one in another shade down to a nub that’s also sat there for a while and I think I am going to just stick to the skinny pencils and finishing my Tarte backlogs.

# LIPS
Wanted to see if these might work out for me/my allergies, but alas, no luck.

  • Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint in MARS, $13 shipped
Shade unfortunately does not work for me at all. Never used, I swatched this to test the shade and test to see if I would have a reaction to the ingredients using a sterile single use lip brush to swatch this off the plastic part of the wand applicator and then used a sterilizing wipe to clean that off just to make sure it was still sterile. The wand has never touched me or left the tube and will still be sterile. I took photos closer up to show that the wand never left the tube, as well as a shot on a white Kleenex to show the color better. (I know, that’s pretty cheesy.)

# HAIR

  • ESalon Devoted to Hue Color Depositing Deep Conditioner in Copper, never used, still sealed, $15 shipped
I have several of these and won't be using them all in a speedy fashion, I had to put a hold on my deliveries. This stuff is RIDICULOUSLY potent but is fantastic. Less "expensive looking" but as I said POTENT. I highly recommend you not leave this in longer than a minute unless you want to look like Ronald McDonald or are using it to “correct” some kind of experiment or incident like the one I had with the Ouai Foam Dry Shampoo. I usually put it in and immediately rinse. And sometimes I put it in right when I wet my hair and immediately shampoo. I have ordered the shade Golden to mix it with a few times as well. That makes it less insane. But it's unfucked my hair color a few times after a "hey I wanna try that stuff" went horribly wrong (Ouai Foam Dry Shampoo, I am lookin' at you.)

  • Christophe Robin Shade Variation Care Nutritive Mask with Temporary Coloring in Chic Copper, used twice, a little over half remaining, final reduction to $20 shipped
Sells for $53 dollars at Sephora (!!!) and elsewhere. As I said above, I have a MILLION jars of color conditioner going right now. I really like this stuff, it's not as ridiculously potent as the eSalon, which is actually good. This looks more natural and subtle. I liked to wash my hair in the sink and then put this in, and then put a plastic cap on and let it kind of bake for a half hour while I did a mask, because that was basically like re-glazing my hair. I feel like when you use this to boost your hair (dyed anyway) it just looks "expensive." If that makes sense. I am really anal retentive (as you might have picked up on by now), so I scoop out what I need with a clean, gloved hand, and then close the jar. None of that double dipping business. So there should be no weird gross rogue hairs in here.

Several new items added that I didn’t love when I got that I cannot/cannot easily return.
Hopefully I get the alerts this time...sometimes I don't.
Prices have been reduced, some include US based shipping (talk to me if you're international because that is not included and shipping costs are non-negotiable because I don't set those.)
  • Selling only, not interested in a swap.
  • DS means Deluxe Sample, FS means Full Size, BNIB/NEW means Brand New in Box.
  • Prices are given in USD, and, unless otherwise noted as firm, prices are negotiable/bundle-able. Unless otherwise noted, prices do not include shipping.
  • Shipping $3 for First Class, or $7 for Priority. Can work out when multiple items are in the purchase to include shipping. Unless otherwise noted, shipping is USPS. International shipping will be case based--Europe/Australia tends to be $13-$22 USD (Aus minimum $22USD, haven't found a way around that yet) depending on where and weight, please factor that in. I try to send freebies if possible when weight isn't going to be an issue. Canada I can usually work out to be around $10, though it's varied lately. SHIPPING COSTS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE. I don't set the shipping prices, I can't make them lower.
  • Payment is expected via Paypal within 2 hours of agreement unless otherwise discussed or item will be "released" to someone else. I try to follow timestamps, and occasionally screw up. My apologies if I do.
  • Items will be shipped within 24 hours (assuming it's not a Sunday/Holiday weekend anyway) of receipt of payment. I will provide tracking information.
  • Smoke free, pet free, kid free (ok fine, he's in his mid 40s...) home. All used/swatched items are sanitized with ethyl alcohol (at the least) prior to being packaged and sent.
  • Refreshed Level 4 Flair thread Please share your thread with me when we transact so we can provide feedback after things are swapped.

# MAKEUP:

# FACE

  • Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation in 1.1 Fair, about 2/3-3/4 remaining. $20 shipped
I really like this stuff, but the shade is not right for me, so I found one that works a bit better for me. Hopefully someone can benefit from that since I am too late to return (bought this in early Feb.) and I didn't use too much of it.

  • Josie Maran Coconut Water Cheek Gelee in VACAY ROSE, Final reduction to $9, shipped
Really clear bright rose shade. Would probably work from the palest to the darkest of skins. Used ~4 times, using a clean, never re-dipped Stippling Brush. Still totally full, other than the surface being wiped with a sterilizing wipe, you’d barely know it was used.

# EYES

  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, FS BNIB, never opened or used, still sealed shut (as in, never unscrewed), reduced to $15 Shipped
I counted the mascaras in my drawer and I have 16 unopened mascaras. This one is one I like, I don't love, so I can part with it. (I prefer waterproof.) It's a bigger hassle to return it than I prefer to deal with.

# LIPS

  • Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint in MARS, $16 shipped
Shade unfortunately does not work for me at all. Never used, I swatched this to test the shade and test to see if I would have a reaction to the ingredients using a sterile single use lip brush to swatch this off the plastic part of the wand applicator and then used a sterilizing wipe to clean that off just to make sure it was still sterile. The wand has never touched me or left the tube and will still be sterile. I took photos closer up to show that the wand never left the tube, as well as a shot on a white Kleenex to show the color better. (I know, that’s pretty cheesy.)

# SKINCARE:

  • AmorePacific Moisture Bound Refreshing HydraGel Oil Free Face GelCream DS, never opened or used, $10

# HAIR

  • ESalon Devoted to Hue Color Depositing Deep Conditioner in Copper, never used, still sealed, $16 shipped
I have several of these and won't be using them all in a speedy fashion, I had to put a hold on my deliveries. This stuff is RIDICULOUSLY potent but is fantastic. Less "expensive looking" but as I said POTENT. I highly recommend you not leave this in longer than a minute unless you want to look like Ronald McDonald.
**Verification: http://imgur.com/psw7kSM

  • Christophe Robin Shade Variation Care Nutritive Mask with Temporary Coloring in Chic Copper, used twice, a little over half remaining, $22 shipped
$22 shipped because it's heavy. I am really anal retentive (as you might have picked up on by now), so I scoop out what I need with a clean, gloved hand, and then close the jar. None of that double dipping business. So there should be no weird gross rogue hairs in here.

  • Bumble&Bumble Surf Foam Spray, Travel Size, $10 shipped
Used once, retails for $17. This works best if you blowdry your hair, which I don't because I'd really need my blowdryer cut out of my hair if I did. I am just not good at the "styling" part of my hair. So...yea. Maybe someone else can use this.

  • Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts Palette, a few shimmers & one matte swatched once, $55 shipped, firm
Permanently sold out limited edition palette. Swatched 3 pans, used two one time. Sterilized the two I’ve used, even though I never redipped a brush. The formula is freaking incredible...and that made me really waver on listing this, but I have dupes in my singles for nearly every shade in here that I like, and while it’s gorgeous, I’ve bought a ton of stuff lately and need to get a grip.

2017.03.20 15:56 ItsAMeEric Song performances in non-musical comedy films

I was trying to find a list of songs from comedy movies but couldn't find anything online that was very inclusive, so I decided to make one. My criteria was songs that are performed by a character in a comedy movie (either singing or playing an instrument), not including dance numbers (like in Napoleon Dynamite or Risky Business) or songs from animated films and musicals (Little Shop of Horrors, The Producers, etc.). I included goofball comedies, family comedies, romantic comedies, dark comedies, mockumentaries, spoof films and lighthearted sci-fi or action films. I subjectively ranked them based on how I liked the songs and how I felt the songs fit within the context of the film and what value it added. I linked each song to the clip from the movie if I could find it, I do not own and didn't upload any of the videos.

Here is the list:
  1. Life Of Brian (1979) – "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"

2017.02.05 02:31 misterkaitaia Are our drinking habits in need of regulations and policing or are the regulations and restrictions creating a poor drinking culture in New Zealand?

We all keep hearing about our terrible drinking culture and the need for more "regulations". I've just read this interesting piece on the drinking culture in Czech Rep and another one on the cultural determinants of behaviour under the influence of alcohol. The basic argument is that the "The effects of alcohol on behaviour are determined by cultural rules and norms, not by the chemical actions of ethanol". Interestingly (about the Brits, but I reckon this applies to Kiwis):
The problem is that we Brits believe that alcohol has magical powers - that it causes us to shed our inhibitions and become aggressive, promiscuous, disorderly and even violent. But we are wrong. In high doses, alcohol impairs our reaction times, muscle control, co-ordination, short-term memory, perceptual field, cognitive abilities and ability to speak clearly. But it does not cause us selectively to break specific social rules. It does not cause us to say, "Oi, what you lookin' at?" and start punching each other. Nor does it cause us to say, "Hey babe, fancy a shag?" and start groping each other. The effects of alcohol on behaviour are determined by cultural rules and norms, not by the chemical actions of ethanol.
And:
The British and other ambivalent drinking cultures believe that alcohol is a disinhibitor, and specifically that it makes people amorous or aggressive, so when in these experiments we are given what we think are alcoholic drinks - but are in fact non-alcoholic "placebos" - we shed our inhibitions. We become more outspoken, more physically demonstrative, more flirtatious, and, given enough provocation, some (young males in particular) become aggressive. Quite specifically, those who most strongly believe that alcohol causes aggression are the most likely to become aggressive when they think that they have consumed alcohol. Our beliefs about the effects of alcohol act as self-fulfilling prophecies - if you firmly believe and expect that booze will make you aggressive, then it will do exactly that. In fact, you will be able to get roaring drunk on a non-alcoholic placebo. And our erroneous beliefs provide the perfect excuse for anti-social behaviour. If alcohol "causes" bad behaviour, then you are not responsible for your bad behaviour. You can blame the booze - "it was the drink talking", "I was not myself" and so on.
The whole piece by Kate Fox is fascinating, but in a nutshell she argues that people act like dicks after booze when the whole society tells them that alcohol makes them act like dicks. She argues that nations with the strongest drinking restrictions, laws and educational campaigns warning against the "dangers of the demon drink" end up having the biggest problems with post-boozing behaviour. Nations with a far more relaxed attitude and close to no restrictions end up having much fewer issues.
Sure, alcohol is an addictive, unhealthy and toxic substance, but its social impact seems to be very closely linked to the kind of message that we promote via educational programs and regulations. NZ has a long history of demonising booze and trying to almost ban it. And yet our drinking culture seems worse than in many places with higher levels of booze consumption. Is there a link?
What do you think?
